Stuttgart QF preview and prediction: Fritz vs. Fucsovics

It should be a high-quality contest on grass when Taylor Fritz and Marton Fucsovics collide in the quarterfinals of the BOSS Open on Friday afternoon.

Both players are more than capable on the green stuff and have enjoyed plenty of success at Wimbledon in the past. Fritz made it all the way to the quarterfinals at the All-England Club last summer and had Rafael Nadal on the ropes before falling in five sets.

At this point Fritz looks like a contender to go deep not only at Wimbledon but also on any surface and at any tournament in which he is entered. That includes this week in Stuttgart, where he opened with a straight-set victory over Aslan Karatsev on Thursday.

Additionally, the eighth-ranked American has owned this head-to-head matchup with Fucsovics. Both of their previous encounters have come this season and Fritz won them both; 6-4, 6-3 at the Indian Wells Masters and 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 on the red clay of Munich.

The Hungarian is no pushover, but Fritz should have the edge once again and make it three victories over Fucsovics on three different surfaces.

Pick: Fritz in 2
