Is Novak Djokovic playing the U.S. Open?
Yes. This will be Djokovic’s fourth consecutive Grand Slam appearance in 2026. He has played only three other tournaments.
Is Carlos Alcaraz playing the U.S. Open?
Yes. Alcaraz is playing for the first time since mid-April, when he suffered a right-wrist injury in Barcelona. The Spaniard is playing singles in addition to mixed doubles with Serena Williams.
Is Jannik Sinner playing the U.S. Open?
No. Jannik Sinner is out due to a knee injury.
Is Stan Wawrinka playing the U.S. Open?
No. The 2016 U.S. Open champion requested a wild card but did not receive one. He will not attempt to qualify.
Is Serena Williams playing the U.S. Open?
Williams is only playing doubles with Venus and mixed doubles with Alcaraz, but not singles.
Is Venus Williams playing the U.S. Open?
Yes. Williams, 46, has a main-draw wild card for singles to go along with he women’s doubles participation with Serena.

who ya got?
Based on the fluctuations in the odds over the past three weeks or so, it looks set to be Djokovic, Shelton, Jodar, Fritz or Fils. With Carlitos and Zverev playing the role of ‘outsiders’.
Hmmmm. Alcaraz hasn’t had competitive matchplay for a while but Djokovic hasn’t had much either lately and pulled up ill last outing. I’m not ruling either out from possibly surprising though.
It’s also possible that Zverev will get his act together again but yeah, I don’t see him winning the 2026 US Open, and neither do I see Fritz winning it; some of his US colleagues are looking more likely than him based on recent Masters 1000 results. Other seeds I don’t think will win this one are Medvedev (anymore), FAA, de Minaur.
Nakashima might do better than at previous slams if he plays like he did leading up and doesn’t run out of fuel. And I think Fonseca is still improving, as is Tien, so those might have a good run too, to a QF perhaps.
Never seen Mark Lajal lay down like that. Totally acknowledging Lee’s future potential, but normally Lajal would have been a tough gate keeper. Seen challenger battles much harder than what Lee was dishing out. I think either Lajal was injured or was paid to let the kid through.
Lee is simply a superior player
I am so thrilled that US Open JP Morgan Chase has finally cracked down on players farming show purses. You don’t finish the match, you don’t get paid. Amazing. That move might have just saved tennis.
Is that true about having to finish the match to get paid?…..Rick, what’s the story?
