  1. Congrats to Rafa and his wife Mary! So happy for them! Rafa may not need to retire from tennis, he just has to pick and choose which tournament to play, so that he can spend more time with his family.

  2. When has rafa ever called for a presser to announce he will go for a tourney…even for ao, he just put out a tweet…these days a tweet is enough even to announce a baby arrival..

A presser sounds weird to be honest n hence rafans are nervous

    • It is a bit strange because he never holds a press conference to announce his participation in a tournamentand I don’t think it’s to with the baby because he doesn’t announce anything about his private life. He is a reluctant celebrity.

  3. Hey rafafans, stop worrying 😉
I have not followed this narrative closely – but I highly doubt that Rafa will announce his instant retirement on Friday. The timing doesn’t seem right. He said just recently that he still loves playing tennis and that he will try everything in order to continue for a while. And he just started to try a new treatment. It’s probably too early to assess it’s effectiveness. And if there is really a baby on the way – it will not be born within the next weeks! Therefore permanent retirement seems to be premature. Rafa would certainly try to play one more Wimby and a final USO. And since he doesn’t have to defend any points he could even become the top-ranked player again!
I think it’s far more likely that he will address the pregnancy rumors in order to get this out of the way once and for all, and stop the paparazzi from observing, pestering and annoying his wife. I would absolutely hate if paparazzi were lurking behind every corner in order to scrutinize my body shape! Even for very private celebrities it is sometimes more effective to be proactive and address rumors head-on instead of having to put up with neverending speculations.
But if Rafa really decided to end his stellar career – so be it. He will go out on top of the tennis world after having won one more trophy in Paris, where it all began for him so long ago – just like Sampras who retired after having won the USO one final time. Personally I could not be more happy for Rafa.
    Just my two cents 😀

  4. We only have 24 hours to wait for his press conference.

I agree with you that he has said he wants to continue playing after he knew his wife was pregnant. Recently he talked about the OG in Paris in 2024 and I remember thinking in that case he won’t start a family until he’s 40 as he always said he would put that off until he finished playing.

    Seems he’s changed his mind.

The Majorcan tennis player performs a demanding training session on the grass of Santa Ponça that invites us to think about his possible presence in the third Grand Slam of the year.

It is close to Wimbledon. This Wednesday, for more than two and a half hours, he was exercising together with his coach Carlos Moyà and the young promise of Spanish tennis Martín Landaluce. What was seen on the track at the Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponça was not just a test to check the condition of his left foot after the pulsed radiofrequency treatment he underwent nine days ago, but it was a full-fledged training session. The effort was such that at one point Nadal fell on the grass for a couple of minutes to catch his breath

Nadal alternated rallies with Landaluce and Moyà, who could barely return the missiles of the winner of 22 Grand Slams. At one point in training, Nadal himself reassured Landaluce and told him: “You hit hard and don’t worry if you fail. I also fail.” One of the most demanding moments of the session occurred when Moyà and Landaluce stood at the net while Nadal hit the balls sent to them over and over again without rest. Such was the intensity that Nadal said: “I can’t take it anymore”, but there was still more than an hour left before the rehearsal was over. On the track, both the physio Rafael Maymó and the representative Carlos Costa closely followed Nadal’s progress.

Given the high temperatures, there were several breaks that the tennis team used to comment on some of the aspects of the game. One of Moyà’s ‘obsessions’ was for his pupil to support his body and not lean back when he hit the ball. From what was seen yesterday, the treatment administered by Dr. Ángel Ruiz-Cotorro is giving the expected results. The tennis player’s roadmap included four or five days of maintenance physical activity without making great efforts, and then gradually returning to training. One of the biggest problems is that on grass the ankles are, along with the knees, the joints that suffer the most because the ball bounces much less than on clay or on the surfaces of the Us Open or the Australian Open, similar, but not exact. If Nadal finally disputes Wimbledon, it would be his reappearance in this tournament, won in 2008 and 2010, which he has not attended since 2019.

Nadal also wanted to test his volley before performing several dozen serves with which he was able to end his exercises. When he served on the side of the ‘deuce’, it was appreciated how he dragged the tip of his left foot on the grass, a fact that he commented on to Costa. When he changed serving sides, the ‘problem’ had already disappeared. After greeting his sparring partner and taking the required photo with him, Nadal ended the training session and the first thing he did was change his shoes. It was 12:25 p.m. when Nadal left the track and attended a dozen fans who had followed the evolution of the winner in Paris less than two weeks ago. With a shy “thank you” he responded when a fan congratulated him on his upcoming fatherhood. Forty minutes later he was at the Consolat de Mar receiving a tribute from the Government. This Thursday Nadal is expected to make statements about his future plans.

  6. I don’t think Rafa is going to talk about the baby. He is very private about his personal life. He doesn’t have to say anything to anybody. Certainly not a press conference. As far as his career, he could say something about it. He may not retire at this time but might say he will retire at the end of this year.

We just don’t know. But he does not have to hold a press conference to announce he is playing at Wimbledon. We just don’t know what he will say. We have to wait and see.

  7. I think he will probably update us on his foot treatment, how it goes and then talk about his participation at Wimbledon or not. Perhaps he may also talk about his schedule for the rest of the year, bringing in news about the soon to arrive baby (sometime in Nov?)

  8. Rafa’s press conference this morning. The main points Interpreted by intrepidish on TTW.

Positive in general with pain reduction and without a limp however the foot is still rerouting so to speak in terms of nerve responses; sometimes it’s ‘asleep’ in different parts at different times and of course they are monitoring it going forward

He also confirmed his wife’s pregnancy while repeating his preference for privacy in his personal life

He will play Canada if things proceed as planned

  9. Ha, as I expected, he just wants to update us on his progress, his schedule from Wimbledon onwards and also confirms the news of his wife’s pregnancy.

  10. @ Lucky, what else could it be, huh? 😂🤣

    Retirement? Of course not!!!

Well I’m pleased that things seem to be going well, and I’m happy that Rafa is to be a daddy!! I’m over the moon 🤪😝

However, career wise, I wish him continued success regardless of what happens with the foot. Rafa is at a point in his career where his legacy is already cemented, he has nothing left to prove but to enjoy playing his tennis as long as he wishes to play. This is really the point that most of us would like to get in our careers……….we’ve made tremendous strides, contributions and we are able to leave on top. It’s something most did not envisage for Rafa and I’m glad that he proved everyone wrong!!! Vamos!!

  11. Did he say definitely that he is playing at Wimbledon? Thank God he is not retiring! I hoped that wasn’t the case but I was still nervous.

  12. All good news! I was slightly worried about whether he was playing Wimbledon. Not at all concerned about a retirement announcement since he wouldn’t have been doing an intense practice on grass prior to that! I think the presser was mostly to update everyone on his foot treatment progress. Seems to be looking very good so far, but there’s a way to go still.

  13. How obnoxious have Mole Farm become!?
Their endless accusations that Rafa is doping plus their endless comments that he doesn’t have a real foot problem?
They really are repellent. ( by Mole Farm I mean the big fan accounts ). Also their obvious sexual obsession with Novak is deeply creepy. It must cost Novak a fortune in restraining orders to keep them at a safe distance from him..😉😉😉

    • Why sexual obsession ? He is not even good-looking or sexy in conventional sense for anyone to be obsessed abt him.

The doping allegations ..they will keep saying despite wada having clearly said all legal and allowed and not performance enhancing n that all approvals were taken..till Rafa is ahead in the slam race ,they will keep spouting this crap but who cares. It makes them more frustrated day by day
