How the world’s best tennis players spend their money

In the competitive world of professional tennis, it is possible to achieve a very high income. This is because only the best make it to even the beginning levels of the industry. With fame and prestige comes the acquisition of assets that most of us only dream of. While some may spend freely, other players make shrewd investment choices to ensure their financial security for the future. Investing some wealth is something that most people are interested in doing. At a certain level, incomes are high enough that there are some assets left over.

Investment advice for players

Some players launch their own brands and businesses, while others build a stock portfolio. An investment professional such as Wesley Edens can help professional athletes manage their portfolio to achieve their long-term dreams and goals. With assets, players can support organizations and values close to them. For example, a stock portfolio may include a large investment in a vaccine company trying to cure autism.

Here are some of the most prominent tennis players and how they spend their money:

Serena Williams

Serena is an avid sports fan, so naturally she has invested in a sports team. The world No. 1 owns shares in the Miami Dolphins of the NFL. With $24.6 million earned from June 2014 to June 2015, she can afford to travel as much as she wants. Like many successful players, she owns multiple homes. Her main residence is in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and it has beautiful landscaping with lush gardens and a crystal blue pool for lounging and entertaining.

Roger Federer

Roger has been known to make as much as $71 million in one season alone. Like many athletes, he makes most of his income from the sport itself but also gains millions by endorsing products. He owns a stylish apartment in Dubai and a penthouse apartment in Switzerland with stunning views of the Alps, as well as other properties.

Novak Djokovic

Novak is the highest-grossing player in tennis right now in terms of prize money, so he has a lot to spend. He enjoys collecting sports cars and he resides in a fabulous house in Monte Carlo with his wife, Jelena. Novak also loves fine dining and has reinvested his money into a very popular line of cafes and restaurants in Serbia. An increase in wealth has allowed him to provide a good life for his family and create business opportunities. His endorsement of Mercedes-Benz comes from a special love of the cars. Novak is also a fan of fine watches and endorses them.

Importance of an understanding representative

Investment advice for those in sports needs to be conducted by someone that knows the industry and the unique needs of players. An understanding financial services representative such as Wesley Edens can help players think of enjoyable and helpful ways to invest while considering the sporadic nature of sports income. For example, if lower-ranked players don’t have a great season, they need to know that their financial future is still okay.

  1. Both Andy Murray and Juan Carlos Ferrero have hotels.

JCF has an academy attached to his, if I’m not mistaken, as well as being part-owner in the Valencia tournament along with David Ferrer.

(A friend of mine told me JCF is starting another academy in China; I’m not sure how that’s coming along.)
