Eastbourne round two preview and pick: Murray vs. Edmund

(2) Kyle Edmund vs. (WC) Andy Murray

Former world No. 1 and 2016 Wimbledon champion Andy Murray will look for his second match win of 2018 as he takes on compatriot and top Brit Kyle Edmund at the Nature Valley International in Eastbourne on Wednesday.

Murray and Edmund have met on two occasions, both in 2016. The Scot won both matches, but Edmund snagged a set from Murray on the lawn of Queen’s Club. Murray has been sidelined for nearly a year with a hip injury and surgery. The former two-time Wimbledon winner lost his first match back to Nick Kygrios at Queen’s Club last week, but he posted his first win on Monday in Eastbourne over Stan Wawrinka–who is also back this season from injury.

Edmund, ranked 18th in the world, was only one match better than Murray at Queen’s Club. He posted a win over American Ryan Harrison but went out in round two to eventual semifinalist Kyrgios. Edmund made a surprise run to the semifinals at the Australian Open, but his spring and summer have been less stellar.

Though the crowd is likely to support old favorite Murray, the 31-year-old is still shaking off the rust from a year-long hiatus from match play.

  1. Murray in three. I feel like he may have been healthy for a little longer than expected but took off the clay season as Roger does for his back. Murray looks good enough to make a Wimbledon run imo

  2. Hey Ricky!…I posted a comment & gave 2 articles for RC & WTA lovers there & it still didn’t through…Why?Once upon a time i gave 3 articles in 1 post & it got hold too!..But this time it’s only 2!…I always give something to Nny..sometimes 2 articles too..but no problem with it…

    #DONTUNDERSTAND!!URGH!!

  3. Muzz in 2 … but if he doesn’t πŸ™‚ … Edmund in 3.

I see muzz as favourite but not sure he’s got a 3-set win in him yet against a power player.

  4. Edmund over Murray was an easy pick. As if Edmund being the form he’s in all year and highest ranked British, would just going to let Murray have his way in their first match back from injury.

Murray will be a special the next time they meet.

Cilic over Djokovic was a moral also. When was the last time Djokovic beat anyone of Cilic’s level?
