What is especially surprising about his picking PCB over Dom is that he picked Dom to win the AO only a few weeks ago on his GS picks for the year.

I dunno. Thiem didn’t look good in the ATP Cup. He may be troubled by the increased court speed, much faster this year than last year, they say. Rafa may also have problems with it, especially if his back is still iffy.
If Djokovic has to play a bunch of 5 setters he could go down in the final.

Rafa takes his commitments very seriously. Always has, always will. One of the many reasons tournament directors love him.
Rafa loves having a pity party when he knows he has no chance of winning the title so he uses injury as an excuse if he loses but for some reason during clay season he is miraculously healed no excuse 😂 he makes less excuse during the French Open and after clay season… you guessed it 👍 the excuse continues.
