    • Yes ed, was horrid, but also was there 2 years ago when Andy didn’t play, so kinda getting used to it. Bummer πŸ™
Enjoyed the tennis anyway, you just appreciate the skill and power even more. Had never seen Crashquet or Stan play in the flesh either, so that was good.

  1. RT @TennisTalker: “2nd serve points won in 2013. 1 Djokovic 60%, 2 Nadal 57%, 3 Isner 56%, 4 Kohlschreiber 56%, 5 Federer 55%, 6 Wawrinka 55% @bgtennisnation”

Rafa needs to work on his serve. In tennis, you are only as good as your second serve and a 3% differential with Djoko is a lot………………..

    • nadline, please do get to the bottom of that, lol! Always interested in gossip! If that guy is really named Tomeu Nadal, he is probably NOT Rafa’s out of wedlock brother, who probably wouldn’t have Nadal as his last name. But there are many Nadals on this tiny Spanish island with a limited gene pool, so one of them could look a lot like Rafa.

  2. Ever since Ricky accused Rafa of not making eye contact with chair umpire on post match handshake, I’ve made it a point to observe. Eye contact every time.

Anything else is a back handed insult. Is simply not Rafa’s way.

    • i didn’t accuse Rafa of not making eye-contact.

I accused people on this site of blasting Djokovic and other players for not doing it.

very few do. Nadal and Federer are the exception, not the rule. And I don’t agree that Nadal gives a strong handshake to umpires while making eye contact. He rarely does.

As long as you shake, it doesn’t matter how you do it.

yeah, I’m sure. Certainly when he loses he doesn’t (same with everyone).

        • that isn’t an accusation. an accusation is when you call out something wrong.

not making eye contact and/or not making a firm handshake is not wrong.

          #ReadingComprehension

      • Every one of the last nine matches, Rafa made eye-contact with the chair umpire since Paris and WTF including both losses to Nole at WTF and Ferru in Paris.

I’ve never shaken someone’s hand without making eye-contact. Can’t even imagine doing so. Either a sign of blatant disrespect or social anxiety.

      • I was talking about respectful handshakes, not passive aggressive nor socially inept ones.

Main point was that Rafa makes eye contact on handshakes even to lowly higher umpires, win or lose.

  3. Ok, I just got a clarification of that post that was on Rafa’s Facebook page. Per Neil Harman, it’s some kind of promotion for a Poker Challenge. It’s not an outing of a secret brother.

    • this page is one of the leading authorities on the case of Rafael Nadal and his brother according to google

      good job, folks.

  4. More to come.
rafaelnadalfans: “Rafa’s PR agency, B1PR, said via twitter that we will find out more tomorrow about Rafa’s brother: β€œMaΓ±ana mas sobre el HERMANO de @RafaelNadal”

  5. A propos of another topic, those of you accusing Rick of fan this and that, if you believe his bleacher report profile he:

    likes: Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer

Favorite athletes: Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, LeBron James, Rafael Nadal, Jerry Rice

    Federer or Sampras? Nadal
