The fact that Djokovic is fighting for the No. 1 ranking and to get his hands on the only Grand Slam that has evaded him, makes you wonder whether this will be the year that Nadal’s dominance ends.
Loaded statement from an article I read. I dont think Djokovic needs any bigger motivation
I won’t label anybody facing Tsonga in round of 16th in front of his home crowd to have a cake draw.
Also Milos and Kei aren’t the same players anymore.
@abhirf, Tsonga is not the same player anymore, unless he surprises us with motivation from the home crowd. Milos and Kei are not going to trouble Novak in a best of 5……..
I agree with Abhirf Tsonga is no pushover. Although this year he’s not had much success he thrives on the big stage and is one of the few Frenchmen who doesn’t go to pieces at RG. He could catch fire as he did last year and the year before.
I agree with your assessment. When it comes to Rafa at RG, it’s always on his racket. Novak possibly playing Raonic in the quarterfinals won’t be tough like it was in Rome. This is best three out of five, which is a whole different kind of match. Raonic can’t stay with Novak in that kind of match.
Rafaholics: ¤¤ Rafael Nadal: “During the clay court season I get a little bit better week by week. Last week in Rome, it was tough physically. I played a lot of time, but in the end sometimes you need these things. I was not that happy about what I did in Monte Carlo and Barcelona, but that’s sport. The dynamic is positive, so that’s always important for confidence. I felt that in Rome I was able to play without the nerves, the anxiety that I had in the first two tournaments and at some moments in Madrid, too. So that’s always a positive thing.”¤¤
Novak Djokovic: “I have played some epic matches against [Rafael Nadal], especially the one last year in the semi-finals. We went the distance. I think it was 10 8 in the fifth. So even though it was a tough loss for me and I was putting a lot of emotional effort into winning this event last year.”
No Novak, it was 9-7 in the final set, not 10-8!!!!!!!!!!!
^^^^^Djokovic feigning nonchalance!
He refers to putting a lot of emotional effort into winning LAST year: he made a similar comment a week or so ago that he’d put TOO much emotional energy into winning.
He’s trying to kid himself this is just another Slam to be played. Nobody is fooled Nole. Everybody knows how badly you want it.
Good luck mate. You’re gonna need an awful lot of it if you are to wrestle RG away from Rafa. He will fight to the death.
Sorry, I don’t have it in me to be magnanimous where Novak is concerned this year. He is the bookies’ favourite, let him go and justify that. Me? I hope he skids on a big, fat banana skin, but doesn’t injure himself of course. I want him around good and healthy for some good ol’ fashioned shellacking from Rafa…………

Serena could play Venus in the 3rd rnd
A good draw for Rafa
^^That’s what I think as well, on reflection. I do not expect Rafa to treat Ferru with kid gloves like he did in MC. As for Elvis……………
cake draw for djokovic….decent draw for rafa…

@ritb, in that case no one’s going to trouble Rafa in a best of 5 here! his draw should be the biggest cakewalk then, no!
Do not see any landmines in Novak’s path, should sail through to the final……………
cake draw for Nadal. Bad draw for Djokovic.

I think this draw is a well balanced out one for every seeded player.

Media Day…What they said
Novak Djokovic: “I have played some epic matches against [Rafael Nadal], especially the one last year in the semi-finals. We went the distance. I think it was 10 8 in the fifth. So even though it was a tough loss for me and I was putting a lot of emotional effort into winning this event last year.”
No Novak, it was 9-7 in the final set, not 10-8!!!!!!!!!!!
Rafa knows the score of every match he has played, even in the juniors……………..
so does Fed!!
He even remembers how the points were played out. 🙂

^^^^ oh dear. Is that how it seems? That was a feeble attempt at sarcasm. Should have used an emoticon.
I’m already practising with my pins and wax model of ND.
^^I went the pins n’ wax model route last year, didn’t work, he’s still around, no? So this year am just gonna channel my inner Dr. Evil 👿
You need the extra long heavy duty pins 😉
I used them in ’08 – they worked a treat.
.Stan: “I’m one of the favourites here but I’m far behind Rafa and Novak. They are really above the other players.”
Roger won’t like this. Stan obviously doesn’t think he is the GOAT.

nadline and rafaisthebest,
Do YOU see the emoticon ed251137 posted at 12:34 am?
(It depends on the browser I use – whether I see it or not).
Are you talking about the ‘c’ in a circle copyright sign or the winking with tongue out?
@augusta08, yes I can see @ed251137’s emoticon. It’s in black & white. I am using Internet Explorer.

I see this emoticon when using Internet Explorer, and I see nothing when I use Google Chrome.
I didn’t think Coleslaw© went in for false modesty……….
Didn’t he say only the other day “I can beat them all………………”
………………or was that a spoof?
