  1. 4-2 Petra in the second set.
It’s 2011 all over again for nearly 2 sets.

Cirstea is keeping it close. Her Romanian fans have realized this is not Fed Cup and are sitting and simply applauding when Cirstea makes it 4-3 Petra.

  2. Where are you, amy?

Petra is trying to serve for the match, yikes first matchpoint lost.

@nd Matchpoint, Yes, Petra Kvitova wins!

Great run for both players. Congrats to Cirstea too.

  3. I expended a lot of energy watching that! All my I don’t mind Sorana winning comments went out the window with those awful.fans!

    • Hahaha…mine, too, after that man disrupted Kvitty.

I hope Petra inspired Karolina Pliskova and other Czech players. Of course, it would be even better if she won the final tomorrow.

I have to DVR the matches tomorrow because I won’t be able to watch.
      Cheers, amy.

      • Thanks for posting the music will listen to it tomorrow as it’s getting late here ! I intend to watch tomorrow.
Now I am hoping Jannik wins…..I don’t dislike Carlos but I !like Jannik more…

    • The match will be playing all night until I have had enough. 😀

I am so happy right now, but I better stay up late and do the brackets while I have peace of mind.

Uh, tennis brackets are now on clay.

  4. Charleston Quarterfinal Day 😀

What I appreciate is having all the QF on the same day!

    Ons Jabeur vs. Anna Kalinskaya
My bracket pick is Ons, and I hope she wins. Anna K. ranked #61, is slowly moving up. She beat Kalinina, Cornet, and, most surprisingly, Azarenka to reach the QF. Ons should win this, but this 24-year-old Russian is someone to watch.

    Madison Keyes vs. Daria Kasatkina
My bracket pick is WTA #8 and Russian #1, Daria Kasatkina. But I think it was a mistake to overlook Madison Keyes. Keyes is hard to beat when she is focused and has her big serve and forehand working. Keyes took out Magda Linette yesterday. I watched the last set, 62 36 61, and Maddy can win if she brings that level.

    Belinda Bencic vs. Ekaterina Alexandrova
Belinda won the title in Charleston last year. Her match vs. hometown favorite, Shelby Rogers, went all Bencic after Shelby took the first set. My bracket pick is Bencic, and I stand by her to make the Charleston SF.

    Paula Badosa vs Jessica Pegula
Begu was in a position to win in straight sets, but somehow Jessica found her best tennis to win the match. Watching the score only, the loss looked brutal for ICB, and my bracket could have collapsed without Pegula winning.

When I picked the draw, I felt sure about Pegula winning, but at this point, the trophy could go to almost any of them.

If I had my way, Ons Jabeur would win the trophy here. The Minister of Happiness is due for such a win, which would move her up a notch in the rankings going into clay season.

  5. Mertens crashed and burned in Bogata and took everybody except Big Al and Cami with her!
Rooting for ons too, she is lovely in personality and game.

  6. Hello Margot,

    I hope you are well.

All of my ATP brackets are failures.
Bogata WTA – a failure too.
Charleston is good. Tennis Channel will broadcast all of the QFs starting at 11 am. I have ordered Chinese food.

    Ons Jabeur 😀

  7. Kasatina has been reading Aga Radwanska’s book, How to Stay in Top Ten WTA Ranking Without Having a Big Serve.

Daria can return like the champ she is, but she struggles to serve out a match. It will be a long day for both players, at this pace.

  8. Serve out a SET; I meant to say.

She had at least one opportunity in the first set and now in the second. It’s frustrating, cheering for Daria to win. (She is my bracket pick)

  9. Amy, if you were not asleep, I bet you would like the junk balling, wand waving, Daria.

Hello, Farah Diba (you are still asleep in your time zone), but you would enjoy this. OMG, Daria is going to win the match if she can serve out the final set! But… Madison breaks, Kasatkina’s lame serve, and the set/match remains up for grabs. Kasatkina had planned out and practiced the details of beating a powerful opponent.

    Congratulations, Daria, you devil!! 😀

    • I did watch a small part of the match Elizabeth. I turned it on in the first set tiebreak and when Maddie won I thought she would win so lost interest.
Wish I had watched more now as I really like Daria.
Pity her serve isn’t better but it’s good to watch someone whose game isn’t based on power….
I am really looking forward to watching Monte Carlo…back in my time zone for one thing…😀

      • It was fun to watch Kasatkina outwit her stronger, more powerful opponent. 😀

Aga Radwanska was never going to win a GS with her serve but she was happy with her game. I miss her.

    • That’s weird, and I already wrote here to thank you for complimenting my best effort in picking the draw. Charleston is my best effort to date,

Thanks for the heads-up about Monte Carlo It starts at 3 am my time.

    • When you pick a bracket, Big Al, your brackets are usually on top or near the top. It’s true.
I try my best (sort of) to keep up with everyone. Charleston was as good as can do. Basically, everyone in the Jalep_Wildguess group has their days at the top!
      😀

Welshwitch, I think I do know this time who cami is. But I will not say. I don’t kike putting people on the spot, especially when they go to the trouble of staying anonymous. I can relate to that! lol

I apologize to Farah Diba again.

      • Ohh…y u apologize to me RC?For thinking i am cami?

p/s..it’s a shame cami wants to stay anonymous..she/he can add a colour to our group here!..let’s try my charm now!..hey hey hey cami!..come!..let’s introduce ourselves!..i’m Farah Diba, nice to meet u!..from all tenngrander’s..i’m the craziest!😁..and welcome to our group Jalep Wilderness!..yeehaaa!!..c ya!

        • LOL, Jalep Wilderness, good one, Farah. It’s Wild_Guess, but Wilderness works too. I’m trying to keep the time zones right, have a good night’s sleep, boss.
          😀

          • Hehehe…just wanna tease u RC!🤣..at 1st it was typo, but i thought wilderness is not bad too coz u love the nature too!

    • Time frame? What do you mean? Scratching head.

Yes, Pegula was supposed to win Charleston, according to my bracket. I love Ons; who doesn’t? Some parts of her win seemed out of character for a Minister of Happiness. That match was supposed to be a feel-good experience, but I couldn’t help feeling bad for Belinda.

      Congrats to Ons Jabeur!
      I am over it already.

My heart goes out to BB.

      • Time frame= Last 6 months, last 12?
If people want to be anonymous, that’s fine. I’m not that interested TBH.
Do hope Ons does well at RG. How fabulous that would be.
