  1. A second AO? Almost happened in 2012… a few balls here or there. But should Rafa do it this year (or a later year), I think there will be some work for dentists.

    • If Rafa wins AO 2014 he will achieve the distinction of being the only man EVER to win a double career slam on 3 different surfaces. Sean Randall will close down Roger-x blog.

  2. Am thinking this will be disallowed:

“hawkeye Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation.
At least fans of other players would not be misled from the falsely implied objectivity if this site was called Roger-X. Much more accurate.
Still, fun to point out however, when the Moderator deems my posts somehow worthy of not being deleted.
At least a site like RuansFedererBlog is honest and openly admits disdain for Rafa which I can respect more than the behaviour here. For example, he is straight up about his hate in this quote regarding the WTF exhos:
“I was satisfied when Roger made the semis, but now that Nadal has lost as well I am happy.”
Brilliant! Hard to argue with his motivation there!
    Simple. Honest.”

    I like @Wilson’s post:

      • Have a heart, @augusta08. Imagine the frustrations wrought on poor @hawkeye63 because of the treatment he is receiving on THAT site. The least we can do is provide a refuge for him, otherwise he would go mad! All because he insists on standing up for Rafa.

@hawkeye63 deserves chocolates @augusta08 (not Lindt), him and @holdserve, for their noble work…………not slaps.

      • augusta,

I agree. I chanced to click on the link and saw the putrid hatred for Rafa that passes for tennis discussion on that site. I did actually post a bit after the demise of TT, but found that it was terrible for my blood pressure.

There’s nothing to accomplish on that site, because you are trying to reason with people who are so biased and blinded by hate that they can’t see or hear any of it.

I let it go and left because it was a huge waste of my time and energy.

  3. To be on the receiving end of a mauling by the wretched Maxi (and her alter egos) was far from funny. Over the years she wrecked thread after thread on TT and once she had her knife into somebody her viciousness knew no bounds. I always wondered where Scoretracker fitted in to the picture. Many of her attacks on me bore a marked resemblance to those by Maxi from way, way back.

    • Ed251137, that is because @scoretracker on TT was/is @skeezer on Roger-x blog, who like madmax/malteser/maxi/fleur is a member of the Untouchables club over there…….

      • I don’t think so, are you sure? How do you know?

Their styles are completely different ritb. There are no long explosive rants from him similar to S/T so I can’t see it.

Thanks for the defence RITB. You are right that I needed an outlet and wanted to share some of my banter over there but in the back of my mind thought this may not be the right forum so I will stop.

Sorry augustina08. I will stop. My bad. Sorry to Ricky too.

(Still can’t believe S/T and @squeezer are the same, but, whatever)

        🙂

    • Lighten up, @augusta08. That is the point: there are no conflicts, tennis is just a game. Conflicts are present in the minds of people who take themselves too seriously, have no sense of humor and basically don’t have a life. If you follow closely you will see that this is what we are making fun of……..

  4. To be fair, I do understand why some Fedfans are less than charitable towards Rafa and Rafans. I had a hard time finding anything pleasant about Djokovic in 2011! Now I barely tolerate him because Rafa is getting the better of him, again……

Am I proud that I would feel the way I did about Djokovic in 2011 when I hardly knew the bloke? No. Bloody ridiculous! But that is why that behavior has to be laughed at. It’s ridiculous.

I acknowledge that I am hostile towards Rafa’s enemies, and I will be. But I feel that personal fights shouldn’t be exported/imported between blogs.

      • @augusta08, this issue (if ever there was one) is dead to me, why are you still bringing it up? @hawkeye63 has apologised to you, twice, profusely! I have tried to be blase about this. What more do you want?

And just for the record, just as I do not like people dissing Rafa, I also do not like other Rafans “policing” what other Rafans do. This is why I came to @hawkeye’s defence, I just do not like it when other Rafans take it upon themselves to tell other Rafans what to do or say. That’s how I feel.

Now that we have aired our FEELINGS to each other, can we move on?

        Jeez…………..

  5. I hope you guys also remember that Gomuzza idiot ! after cheryl banned him/her, we saw ‘Gomuzzza’ and then ‘Gomuzzzza’ before finally cheryl banned his/her IP. It was definitely torres9 the crap! haha…what have we all been through at TT !

    • TT definitely became a traumatic experience towards the end. Ooops, we have to find out from @augusta08 if we should mention TT (another site) on this blog, those were personal fights if ever there were any………

Sorry @augusta08, but this is an example of why you should not “police” what other posters say or do, leave that to the moderator(s).

And this is another thing which made TT unpleasant towards the end, other posters assuming the role of moderator, making other posters feel uncomfortable.

  6. There is no way that scoretracker could have been skeezer or especially, madmax/maxi/maltheser/fleur.

I say this because of that e-mail response from Cheryl in which she only found out about all the other screen names when she banned Fleur and checked the ipaddress. That’s when she put all the names together finally. She realized that Fleur was also maltheser and maxi.

That’s why madmax could not be scoretracker. At that time, scoretracker was posting on TT. Cheryl would have made the connection with scoretracker having the same ip address as maxi. Since she didn’t make that connection, then scoretracker can’t be madmax.

Scoretracker was never skeezer. Whatever you say about skeezer, he never posted endlessly long tirades.

Keep in mind that Scoretracker was a Roddick fan. That’s one clue. How many Roddick fans were there on TT or on tennis-x, for that matter?

  7. Guess what guys! Not only will I see Rafa in Abu Dhabi, I have just bought tickets for the last 3 days of Doha!!!!!! If Rafa doesn’t turn up, I shall fly to Porto Cristo and personally drag him there. Lol

  8. What must have made it particularly hard were the confusing rumours that abounded and the constant will he/won’t he be there as each tournament drew nearer and nearer. It was clearly a tactic not to withdraw until the last moment – I imagine requested by the tournament directors in an effort not to depress ticket sales to those fans who would only come if he were appearing.

  9. Hope you have fun nadline.

It’s always fun just to be at a tennis tournament but definitely not the same when key players, especially one’s favourite is missed.

We saw Rafa play two matches in Montreal in ’09. But he lost to Delpo and was struggling with a muscle tear on his return after missing Wimby.. The highlight for me was it was my first attendance at a tournament in 10 years (French Open ’99) and it was just great to see Rafa, Fed and Nole playing live.

2011 was a bit of a letdown because Fed, Muzza and Rafa lost early before we arrived so it was pretty much the Nole 2.0 annihilation exhibition and we questioned doing it again as it’s not an inexpensive activity!

This year was great. Fed pulled out which was too bad but got to see Rafa take out Matosevic, Nole in semis (bucket list match) and Raonic in the finals. Also saw, Muzza in doubles, Davy, Pospisil, Raonic vs Delpo, Gulbis, Gasquet, among others so it was our best visit yet! Would have really regretted not going for sure, no?

Any one been to Wimby Centre Court before and who did you see?

    • I saw Rafa play on CC IN 2007. Going way back, I saw Navratilova, Ivanesevic, and a few others; P. McEnroe In a Monday Doubles final also the Williams sisters also on a rain delayed Monday- doubles final. I have seen Fed at Wimbledon but never seen him play there. I saw a match between Henman and Feli also on CC. I’ve seen a host of others, though not on CC, such as Edberg, Chang, Safin, Steffi; don’t remember ever seeing Agassi. Saw Becker, Kevin Curren, Brad Gilbert, Todd Martin and many more.

My husband used to get complimentary tickets through the RAF – the good old days.

      • Wow I was going to ask how you scored CC seats. We saw Williams Sisters play Hingis/Pierce, and Graf vs Hingis Final at FO. I got to experience the French booing Hingis to tears and off the court in person.

  10. ESPN writes about the purpose of exhibition matches in South America and money.
—Roger Federer’s six-match exhibition tour of South America last year reportedly netted him about $2 million per match, and Nadal and Djokovic, now the duo du jour, are probably commanding similar figures.
But the exhibition tours have been a boost for a tennis-enthused region that has generally been starved of big events and the big names that play in them. A rare exception was earlier this year when Nadal decided to play three events to ease himself back into competition, and even then it was his first time playing the South American swing since 2005.
Nadal and Djokovic have been greeted by sold-out crowds and plenty of local attention in the past week.—

    Fedfans might envy. 🙂

    • No more tennis exhos. He’s got a charity golf tournament this weekend and a live poker tournament December 12th, but no more tennis (unless you count Abu Dhabi beginning December 26th as an exho).

  11. Abu Dhabi is an exho. Rafa will be there and so will I.

Rafa is in demand, let’s face it. He sells tickets so no one can deny him making the most of it and cashing in whilst he can. A tennis career has a short life span and players find, after they retire, that they have to make their tennis earnings last them for the rest of their lives and some fall short.
