  1. RT @andy_Murray: “Good to see @wimbledon leading from the front again yesterday. Best tennis club/tournament in the world.”

Ahem…..you would say that wouldn’t you, Andrew of the Murrays?

    • Can Murray afford McEnroe? Would McEnroe want to follow in Lendl’s footsteps running the risk of not being as successful with Murray and Lendl was. The comparisons would be endless.

I can’t see it happening somehow,

John McEnroe has recently declared that he is interested in coaching Wimbledon champion Andy Murray. Murray has recently been on the hunt for a new coach following his departure with Ivan Lendl a few weeks ago. When he was asked by the media if he would consider the role. The seven time Grand Slam champion responded “yes, of course”. He elaborated a bit more by saying:-

“when you get opportunities to coach great players, it is definitely something that would be tempting to think about.”

McEnroe hasn’t coach any ATP players in the past but he was the American Davis Cup captain for 14 months between 1999-2000 before he resigned due to the Davis Cup schedule. During the interview McEnroe said that he believes that Murray belongs in the top four at least. Since coming back from a back operation Murray hasn’t had the best season so far. His best results so far has been reaching the quarter finals at the Australian Open and the semi final at a ATP event in Acapulco. With a win-loss this year of 18-7, Murray has slipped down to number 8 in the rankings. Despite this McEnroe still has strong belief in Murray.

‘I think that Andy certainly belongs in the top four,’ he said. ‘I’m looking at Roger play and I’m amazed at how well he’s moving – obviously we know how well he can play, but he seems to be moving better than he has the last three, four, five years.

‘Andy’s quite a bit younger, so there’s no reason to believe that if he gets back to peak form he couldn’t get back there.

‘I don’t want to wish something bad on other guys, but in terms of the other guys ahead of him, overall he’s got more to his game. And to me he should be at worst No 4 in the world.

‘Just now I would simply have him reflect on his success over the last couple of years. This is assuming he’s healthy – if he’s not healthy, he’s going to be down on himself as much as anyone else.

‘But if he’s healthy, keep in mind what he’s accomplished. I don’t think he needs to ramp up the pressure.

McEnroe is far from the first person to be connected to the coaching role by the media. Other names currently circulating includes establish coach Larry Stefanki, former world number 4 Jonas Bjorkman and a potential promotion for existing member of the team Dani Vallverdu. Murray has said that he plans to decide on a coach before the French Open which begins May 25th.

Hi darlings. Just popped in to say good bye. I won’t be posting again. Too many reasons and besides water under the bridge. I won’t “lurk” either, not my style.
Thanks for the laughs and chat over the years. I’ll miss you and wish you only good things in your lives 🙂
A shout and wave to Vamosrafa and other nice people on here. too many to mention!
    xx

    • Oh Deucy………..I’m going to miss you horribly.
We never did get to play those doubles matches. Too late now.
Good luck and thanks for the memories. Adieux my friend.

      ? ? ? ? ? ?

      • ditto to all the above, deucy

all the very best to you !

and I’ll think of you (and alex and a few others) each time Andy lifts another slam (and atp 1000) trophy

    • deucy, looks like you have firmly made up your mind. I know saying this probably won’t change anything but gona say it anyway:

DON’T LEAVE ! we need posters like you. You are one of the best non-rafa fans we have had on TT and here…. have many positive things to say about you …

sigh…Wish you best of luck for the future…may you stay blessed 🙂

    • deucy,

Oh dear! Please don’t leave! Please! I would miss you terribly! You are so special. Think of what we have gone through together in waiting for Andy to get his first slam win. Remember how I kept telling you to come back after you left when it went to a fifth set at the USO? I wanted you to see it. I cried right along with you when Andy lost to Fed at Wimbledon that year. But then we were all crying happy tears when he won it the next year.

I can’t bear to see you go. You are one of the nicest, kindest, most generous people I have had the good fortune to chat with all these years.

Is there anything I can say that would make you change your mind? I will be crushed if you leave.

I am going through something that I can’t share publicly here. It’s personal, family related. But it’s been so tough. You are the kind of person who brightens my day when you post.

I am truly sad that you are leaving. I don’t know what else to say. :'(
