  1. Another amazing come back by Errani. She has the amazing ability to come back just when you think she is down and out. Now she has to come back out for the doubles after leaving her guts on the court.

  2. Congrats to Sara Errani making the final!
Would like to see Caroline Garcia make the final too but Barbora Strycova has been surprising in 2016 – could be tough to beat.

  3. Good final between Schiavone and Rogers. Schiavone came back from a set down to take the title to the delight of the crowd. Quite an achievement at 35 years old and three years without a title.

  4. I didn’t get to see it but Congrats to Schiavone! She’s awesome.

    Doha matches to watch:
    (9) Vinci v Tsurenko (Vinci should be recovered after winning St. Petersburg 2 weeks ago.
    (13) Wozniacki v Konjuh (fun to see the 18 yr old Croat qualifier play)
    (14) Jankovic v Cepelova (22 yr old Svk qualifier, Cepelova, is on a hot streak)
    (12) Kuznetsova v Goerges (wouldn’t surprise me if Goerges won based on Dubai results)

    Acapulco
    (3) Pavyluchenkova v U.Radwanska (Pavy is my pick)
    (5) Van Uytvanck v Duque-Marino (could be an upset)
    (8) Wickmayer v Victoria Rodriquez (Mex) Not familiar with Rodriguez.
Kiki Bertens v Naomi Osaka (Love to see Naomi play again. Was impressed with her at AO)
    (6) Larsson v Sakkari (Hesitate to pick. Larsson is the favorite but Sakkari is dangerous)
(4)Konta v Kontaveit ( Johanna Konta is my pick but the young Estonian, Kontaveit, is one to watch in 2016)

  5. In Doha, Vinci made it look easy in 2, Wozniacki scraped by #81 ranked teenager, Konjuh, in 3 sets, Jankovic also had to fight to get by Cepelova in 3, and Kuznetsova cruised in 2 easy sets.

Acapulco matches are on now: Konta v Kontaveit and Larsson v Sakkari, unfortunately, Tennis Channel is showing the replay of Woz and Konjuh instead of live matches. Sheesh, it’s prime time – show live coverage!

My Acapulco pick, Pavlyuchenkova made it in 2, Naomi Osaka beat Kiki Bertens as I suspected she would, as did Colombian, Duque-Marino get a win over younger, higher ranked, Belgian, Alison Van Uytvanck!

Guess I shouldn’t complain, I think TC will broadcast Nishikori v De Bakker any minute now.

  6. It’s that time. Time of day to hate Tennis Channel. Why are they replaying Dubai when the tennis is so awesome LIVE from Acapulco right now?? Missing so much tennis at the moment that makes me wonder why I order the channel. What’s wrong with you people? Give me a call, text, email, TC.

Johnson – Dolgo is on, Bedene – Dr. Ivo. Vika match is coming up…

  7. TC continues to disappoint. They can’t show Court Centrale where Vika has been fighting in the decider – finally won! They show a rerun of yesterday’s ATP match waiting for Vika to finish. Gah…

WTA matches for Dubai look so good for tomorrow! But at 3:00 am my time. Not going to happen for me:

    Feisty Latvian, Ostapenko v Kvitova
    Zheng, Saisai v Bouchard
    Petkovic v Vandeweghe
    A. Radwanska v Nicelscu
    Muguruza v Babos

    • Sorry to rub it in Ratcliff but I’ll be glued to the WTA matches thanks to the ATP livestreaming which will feature 5 Centre Court and 3 Court 1 matches.

      ?

        • I don’t get any WTA coverage of Acapulco either – and I should! Ridiculous, unnecessary blackout. 4 years ago I ruined a laptop using one of those dicey online streams.

      • So lucky!
Well, I’m not sure what’s on TC plus right now because I refuse to order the TC plus live-stream – already pay an arm and a leg to get Direct TV Tennis Channel. Partially my own fault – I protest too much.

TC is showing a repeat of 18 yr old Latvian, Jelena Ostapenko, taking Petra Kvitova to the wood-shed the last two sets 5-7 62 61. She can wallop a tennis ball. Talk about young guns — WTA has its share atm!

  8. Love 18 yr old Naomi Osaka, Shelby Rogers, Sloane Stephens, Christina McHale. Wish TC would show these Acapulco matches. And I don’t mean on TC Plus. I mean on regular TC, anyway…

Acapulco Oop starts at 5:00 pm EST:
Naomi Osaka (Jpn) v Mariana Duque-Marino (Col)
Anastasia Pavlychenkova (Rus) v Julia Glushko (Isr)
Victoria Azarenka (Blr) v Dominika Cibulkova (Svk) Dynamite Match!
Sloane Stephens (Usa) v Olga Govortskova (Blr) Go Sloane!
Christina McHale (Usa) v Danka Kovinic (Mne)
Shelby Rogers (Usa) v Johanna Larsson (Swe)
Johanna Konta (Gbr) v Mirijana Lucic-Baroni (Cro) Go Jo!
Yanina Wickmayer (Bel) v Monica Puig (Pur) Go Monica!

  9. Wow, in addition to Kvitova going out to Ostapenko, Saisai beat Bouchard – not really a surprise, I guess.

Very worried right now about Agnieszka losing to tricky Monica Niculescu, too. Ah no, Aga, come on, fight…

      • Well I can’t see anything but the score…
It’s Ninja v Tricky Nicelscu – love to be watching right now, natashao. TC is showing *Delayed* coverage of Nole’s match v Jaziri — not live, wth…

Halep is in bad shape for unknown reasons…hoping after nose surgery she gets some wind back. Right now, I see Halep killer, #118 Elina Vesnina (Rus) is giving #22 Woz trouble! that’d be good to see πŸ™‚

      • Gave me a little scare the 1st set but got it done. Aga 75 61

        #118 Vesnina beat Woz! 75 57 61

TC is so messed up. They should be broadcasting Wawrinka – Skugor live — instead showing a replay of Aga v Niculescu. Really? Happy to see the delayed coverage later. Be like the Golf Channel!

  10. WTA ‏@WTA 2h2 hours ago
Top seed @Vika7 Azarenka has withdrawn from @AbiertoTelcel with to a left wrist injury!
Dominika Cibulkova advances to the Acapulco QF.

#114, Naomi Osaka is through to the QF and will meet the winner of Sloane Stephens v Olga Govortsova. Naomi’s 63 76 win over #72, Mariana Duque-Marino (Col), will put the 18 yr. old from Osaka, Japan, inside the top 100 for the first time. Well done Naomi Osaka. Sweet.

  11. Doha Quarterfinals:
Love Gigi Salmon commentating this match.

18 yr old Ostapenko v 22 yr old S.Cheng. These two did some heavy lifting getting to QF’s — taking out top seeds Kerber (Cheng) and Kuznetsova & Kvitova (Ostapenko)

Ostapenko up a break in the 1st set.

Next is: Suarez-Navarro v Vesnina, then, Mugu v Petkovic, and last, Aga v Vinci!

  12. It’s Zheng, Saisai Zheng, not Cheng. And I forget which way they say the name in Chinese. Is it surname first?

Anyway wow. #88 Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets over #72 Zheng, 64 63. Move over Belinda Bencic! Petkovic v Ostapenko in one Doha Semi-final. And I’m watching Aga v Vinci – on now. Winner will play Suarez-Navarro in the other Doha SF.

    Acapulco QF’s
    Dominika Cibulkova v Johanna Larsson
    Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova v Yanina Wickmayer
And my popcorn match: Naomi Osaka v Sloane Stephens
Even with points from reaching the QF, 18 yr. old Naomi Osaka will move into the top 100 at around #85.

Belinda Bencic, Daria Kasatkina, Jelena Ostapenko, Ana Konjuh, and Naomi Osaka – impressive top 100 teens.

  13. My Ninja girl Aga will have to win in 3, if she’s going to win.
Vinci is better than ever at 33 and too strong. Roberta – 1st set 6-3.

  14. Aga Aga Aga…
Up 2 breaks in the decider πŸ™‚
But no…Roberta won’t have it and breaks back in a hurry!
Never noticed Vinci to be this powerful and fast in singles until the past 6 months – she’s a great doubles player and shot-maker – knew that. She’s got a head of confidence I never knew she had for singles now.

5-3 Aga. Vinci serving…Aga wants this over now. 15-15. 30-15. Ace 40-15. 40-30. deuce. Ad OUT! Match point. Game set match. Aga in the SF. What a fight πŸ˜€

  15. Woohoo! Christina McHale makes the Acapulco SF – wins in 3 sets (64 67 62) over tough veteran Mirjana Lucic-Baroni. Well done, Christina! Good Luck v Cibby tomorrow πŸ™‚

  16. Ninja is toast. And I hope no injury. The 2 set win over Niculescu was way more effort than the score and the 3 set Vinci win both chess match and physical. Carla Suarez-Navarro has been due for some big wins in singles. Vamos Carla!

    Ostapenko – Petkovic next πŸ™‚
