    • Rod Laver says:

” He goes down to Australia and if he was playing Lleyton Hewitt they would be on Roger’s side. At Wimbledon, it was hard to believe the cheers he got when he walked off the court after his match with Murray, more than anybody I have heard of or seen before.”

      #MostPopularPlayer

      • Social media fans?! As i said, rafa is EXTREMELY popular, but he is not the most popular and that is completely fine. Federer always has had the advantage of having a huge fan base years before rafa blossomed into a star. Fans don’t change their allegiance easily so that was an advantage for Federer.

The atp conducts polls for most popular player every year. Every year it is always a close contest between Roger and Rafa but Roger comes out at no.1 which is not so surprising.

      • yeah…just like you voted for rafa multiple times?

he has never lost this contest for like 10 straight years? … that’s the truth , unfortunately.

Rafa is the second most popular player in the world and the gap is not much. Novak is a distant third.

Getting twice as much support in a match played in the home of one of the best in the world (Andy Murray) is something only Federer can manage. I ma referring to their contest in O2 arena when Murray was kind of pissed at the crowd due to that.

As I said, federer has always had an advantage over rafa because of being 5 years older than him…that is the main reason in my view..

Roger Federer Leads 2014 List Of The World’s Highest-Paid Tennis Players

Federer’s long run at the top cements him as the highest-paid player in tennis with earnings of $56.2 million between June 2013 and June 2014.

Rafael Nadal ranks second with earnings of $44.5 million.

Bot math assumes that facebook followers and twitter followers are all different people.

        Hillarious!

      • Federer is the fan favourite around the world outside Spain and Serbia LOL.

As Rod Laver says, ” He goes down to Australia and if he was playing Lleyton Hewitt they would be on Roger’s side.”

In France, the French DC team complains about more fans supporting Roger over their own players. (Explains their cheering for anyone other than Nole over Rafa at Roland Garros.)

        Hillarious!

        Fed knows the truth:

Unlike a bot who’s still furious about the word ‘REAL’

…are still furious about that… ➡ …are still furious about the word ‘REAL’…

        Too funny!

  1. I wonder why Fed is doing that. He always plays in both tournaments. Trying to conserve his energy? Maybe he doesn’t feel that he needs that much prep for the USO.

There is a reason: Andy is Scottish…

And this explains why Roger is fan favourite against everyone else at Wimbledon.

Let me guess. Every tennis player has Scottish ancestors!

    Bot logic is hilarious!!!

    • ^^^This is what I moved from Rafa’s page – the link sanju posted regarding Federer’s retirement with no mention of Rafa whatsoever so it clearly belongs here certainly not on Rafa’s Page.

This is a classic case of an answer to a question being reported as a statement. What Federer said was:

“I would have peace with it if it [retirement] was tomorrow,” reports UBI Tennis . “It could just end up this way, for example through injury.”

  4. WELL FED Forbes has released its “fab” list of the 40 most highly valued brands in sports. Encompassing series and single-team events, squads, and individual and team athletes, the list is a testament to the global power of soccer, for one. Among tennis brands, Roger Federer’s personal one is the sole entry to appear. As described by Forbes, the rankings are arrived at this way: “An athlete’s brand value is their endorsement income, less the average endorsement income of the top 10 athletes in the same sport.” Among athletes, Fed ties for No. 3 alongside one LeBron James.

  5. During the tribute to Nieminen last week, I was remembering two of his tussles with Federer in Basel. In 2011 was one of the rare times he took Federer to three sets, losing the 3rd in the closing stages; the other (2008) was straight sets for Fed but but after two tense tiebreaks. Their h2h was15-0 when Jarkko retired..
