Rafa’s post-match interview at the Boodles:
βI played well. The last couple of tournaments I was playing well. I have good feelings on grass and I just try to be ready for Wimbledon. Itβs been good so far on grass. In Stuttgart I won the title on grass for the first time in five years and that was very important for me. At Queenβs I had a good chance to win my match but I missed a few opportunities. He played a little better than me. On grass that sort of thing happens.
“This was a good practice match for me against Robin. The atmosphere is great here and, seriously, the Club is amazing. Itβs my first time here and I hope itβs not going to be the last.β http://www.theboodles.com/blog/day-four-of-the-boodles-2015.html

Saw her being interviewed at Queen’s. She doesn’t often travel to his matches but watches on TV. She went on to admit she gets too nervous watching them live so prefers to wait till she knows the result so she can concentrate and analyse his play.
Know the feeling well. My sister can’t bear it if she knows the result and has no interest in watching the replay. I am the opposite: I always check the result first, then watch it asap if Rafa has won but wait till I’ve had a stiff drinking before subjecting myself to the pain of seeing him lose.

Spanish tennis players, their coaches and former professional players had a meeting at Wimbledon and signed the Open Letter on the current situation of Spanish tennis.
Tenis Traducio, June 28, 2015: €€ Open Letter from Spanish Players and Coaches
To all territorial federations, clubs and general sports enthusiasts, especially the tennis ones:
Professional players, male and female, have gathered on Sunday June 28, 2015 in Wimbledon, in order to address the impairment and current situation of Spanish tennis. Once finished this reunion, they exhibit the following items:
1. Null communication between the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation and the professional tennis, especially with members of the Fed Cup and Davis Cup.
2. Lack of a strategic plan for the development and promotion of tennis, not taking advantage the countless successes of our sport.
3. Lack of transparency in the distribution of the resources of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation.
4. Lack of planning on the basis of tennis. Lack of a solid project and few resurces for its development.
5. Poor management of the brand βTennis Spainβ has prevented a correct and fruitful capitalization to ensure the development of the sport and success in the future.
6. Lack of harmony between the different groups that are part of Spanish tennis that has led to an alarming drop in the number of practitioners and licenses.
7. Chaotic and belligerent leadership from Mr. EscaΓ±uela that led to his suspension, putting personal interests above the sport and degrading the image of tennis with his performances.
Because of all these exposed items, we inform the competent authorities and territorial federations about our concern about the current situation of Spanish Tennis and ask for them to act with the appropriate authority and responsibility, as soon as possible..
Sincerely,
Signed by:

This thing with the Spanish tennis federation is a mess from the beginning.. I hope it’s solved soon. In any case Rafa shouldn’t be too bothered about it so it won’t be on his mind a lot.
Speaking of “an argument” hawkeye63 mentions, it’s probably in another thread (“Wimbledon full tournament…”). He desperately tried to suppress your comment by writing a huge amount of irrelevant Replies. His efforts paid off – he got food from his feeder. π
At some point (it might’ve been McEnroe during a ‘talking heads’ slot) put forward the theory Rafa should maybe put less emphasis on clay and concentrate more on the hardcore season if he wants to win more Slams. With a laugh he added “he’s got 9 RGs β he doesn’t really need any more of those to prove himself”.
It’s true till this year Rafa has nearly killed himself by the end of each clay season to maintain his crown as King of Clay. Maybe he’s already adopted the McEnroe approach: had you thought of that?

‘hardcourt’ not ‘hardcore’ β auto correct at work π
It could be a ploy to clear the way for Djoko to complete the career slam.
Didn’t think of that π
It’s true till this year Rafa has nearly killed himself by the end of each clay season to maintain his crown as King of Clay. Maybe he’s already adopted the McEnroe approach: had you thought of that?
Imagine the triumphal return of the conquering hero to Belgrade if he ever does manage the Career Slam. Doesn’t bear thinking about.
I sincerely hope not. Rafa needs to prevent anyone trespassing on his RG Kingdom.
