    • Forget that, Nadline- they should just rename clay courts “Rafa courts” haha! There’s three surfaces- hard, grass, and Rafa courts! 🙂

      • I would expect them to do something for Murray at Wimbledon. I think if it’s a statue then that works. He ended the British drought and certainly deserves recognition for that historic accomplishment.

I can also see them doing something at Queens, too.

Andy Murray has pulled out of a planned exhibition match at the Hurlingham Club in London on Tuesday to rest a sore hip.

The Wimbledon champion lost his first grass-court match of the season at Queen’s Club last week.

The world No 1 wanted more match practice on grass before the defence of his title and agreed to play Frenchman Lucas Pouille at the Aspall Tennis Classic.

But with heavy rain forecast, the Scot has today announced he will not as play as a precaution because of his hip but he is still scheduled to play at Hurlingham on Friday.

The seeds for The Championships will be announced on Wednesday with the draw on Friday and play starting next week.

Meanwhile, Murray and other top stars have lost their fear factor going into Wimbledon, Annabel Croft has claimed.

Scot Murray has already racked up the same number of defeats this year as in the whole of 2016.

Former British No.1 Croft, now a TV analyst for Eurosport, said: “One of the players said to me that a lot of the guys now feel they can beat the top guys.

“Everything has changed. They no longer feel scared playing them, because there have been more losses.

“Before they’d be quaking, thinking, ‘I hope I don’t get buried out here!’ and, ‘I don’t want to make a fool of myself’. But now there are more players who feel before they go out that they have a shot.

“It feels like the next generation are coming together a bit more.”

    • Really? Fedal still going strong, and Rafa on clay still instill fear in his opponents the way he played. It’s Murray and Djoko who are not what they used to be but who can be sure they’ll remain that way?

At the slams, the young gen guys are not there yet, only Khachanov managed to reach the fourth round (at FO). Thiem and Demi reached the SF, both beaten by Rafa. The slam titlists and slam finalists were still the old guards. It seems to me nothing has changed.

      • That’s not good news for Murray. He already had the tear in the elbow and shingles.

As far as what was said about the top guys not instilling fear, that only applies to Murray and Novak who have been slumping this year. Rafa and Fed are going strong!

Don’t tell me that the other guys aren’t afraid to face Fedal!

  3. A.Murray has still a hip problem.

RT Stuart Fraser (Tennis writer) ‏:¤¤ BREAKING: Andy Murray pulls out of the [exhibition] match at Hurlingham tomorrow [Friday].
“My hip is still sore and I need to rest it today and likely tomorrow.”¤¤

  4. ESPN, June 30, 2017:
¤¤ Andy Murray struggled through two practice sessions at Wimbledon on Friday but said he still plans to play his first round match despite a niggling hip injury.
Murray has pulled out of two exhibition matches at the Hurlingham Club this week and while emerging unscathed from around three hours of practice at the All England Club, he looked in some discomfort.
The world No. 1 was hitting and serving smoothly but in between rallies limped, grimaced and occasionally bent over in apparent pain.

After completing a second session at Aorangi Park, Murray added: “The session was good. I’m feeling OK.” ¤¤

  5. It seems that Murray is injury prone this season, perhaps the mileage is piling up on his body and so it’s starting to break down. I think that five sets match vs Stan at the FO had done much harm to his hips.

  6. Andy Is skipping the rest of the season… scheduled to have hip surgery…I wish him all the best and fast recovery…tennis will miss him!

  7. Oh! I wish him all the best, and a successful surgery and speedy recovery. We need both Murray and Djoko back to their previous good level, to make the tour more interesting and more competitive.

    • Sorry to hear the news about Andy. I guess it was more serious than we might have thought.

I think this could be a good thing for Andy to take the time to get fully healthy again.

I wish him a speedy recovery and good health next year.

  8. That’s bad!

This season is perfect evidence how things can change drastically in tennis. Last year, it was Fedal who plugged the plug on the rest of the season while Novak and Murray were shining. A complete opposite appears to be happening now. I am not sure what Novak is up to but I think he will take a break as well.

    • What does this mean for Rafa? I assume he will be seeded #1 now. I heard some scenarios in which he could become #1, but they were based on Murray playing.

Murray needs to take the time to get healthy, just like Novak.

  9. Good decision Andy!…But i wish u skip all NA HC swing…take a rest…get healthy and come back to the tour as soon as you’re ready…physically and mentally….C’Mon Andy!!
