Channel Seven will ask its commentartors to refer to newly Knighted world No.1 as Sir Andy Murray when he takes court for next week’s Australina Open.
The Guardian, January 11, 2017: ¤¤ Andy Murray makes commitment to play at Queen’s Club for rest of career.
…
In 2017 the tournament is expanding its Centre Court capacity by 30%.
Stephen Farrow, the Aegon Championships tournament director, said: “To know that Andy will play at the Queen’s Club for the rest of his career and that the BBC will cover it every step of the way is a huge boost in what is an exciting and important year for the Aegon Championships with our stadium capacity increasing by 30%.” ¤¤

Stuart Fraser (Journalist) 3 minutes ago:”BREAKING: Andy Murray withdraws from Miami with right elbow injury.”
Why are both Djoko and Murray having elbow issues at the same time? What have they done?
It seems that once they are approaching 30, injuries start creeping in.
Maybe they were rubbing elbows.
Andy is No. 10 in the Race to London and will likely drop out of the Top 10 heading into clay season.
(Nole is No. 18 and will likely drop out of the Top 20.)
Barring a CryBaby title in IW, Fedal will stay 1 and 2 heading into Miami.
And everyone said Fedal was over and Muzzole was the new world order not so long ago.
I said in December that Murray could find it harder at No. 1.
People are so knee jerk reactionary.
What the hell? 1st April today? Andy and Novak both out od Miami? Lol

Mary now saying Simon Briggs reporting Murray to miss six weeks. Still time for Roland Garros, but just barely…

Stuart Fraser(Tennis writer for The Times): “Murray not yet decided on Barcelona/Budapest. Might do training block instead and also support father-in-law Nigel Sears at London Marathon.”
According to Albert Costa, A.Murray will play in Barcelona next week.

A.Murray also has now a court named after him.
judy murray: “Andy back at Academia Sanchez-Casal in Barcelona where they named court no 1 after him.
Pista Andy Murray.”

You don’t often see a court named after a player from another country.
Congrats to Murray.
What’s the purpose of that? Did Murray win any titles there, or contributed anything there? Or is the academy making use of Murray’s name to make itself a bit famous?
A.Murray trained on the clay courts of the Sánchez-Casal Academy at the age of 15 -16 (for 18 months).
So? Why does he get a court named after him when he trained there for 18 months only and long time ago? Did he go back there all these years to visit the staff, or trained there before each clay season, or whatever?
shouldnt until he retires
luckystar (AT 3:24 PM),
I don’t know. I have only read Judy Murray’s tweet and Wikipedia.
Much as I like, and am a fan of Sir Andy Murray, this accolade is premature to say the least Djokovic must be foaming at the mouth with irritation. it will be interesting too to hear what Federer has to say on the matter. But at the end of the day it’s no big deal. It’s only a training academy not a major venue.
what happened
Why should Nole or Fed mind? I am sure both of them will also have lots of honors heaped on them. The only thing is that the academy should have waited till Muzz retired just as Barcelona should have waited till Rafa retired.
I don’t know why they just don’t wait until they retire. That’s how it usually works.
I also agree that both Novak and Fed will have more than their share of venues named after them.
yep
Andy trained there as a young boy. Federer already has a street named after him in Switzerland and will probably have CC named after him in Basel.
“This is not the first time a street has been named in his honour. In 2012, the city of Halle, in Germany, unveiled “Roger-Federer-Allee” in recognition of Federer’s success on the grass at the Gerry Weber Open” .
I can see Queens naming CC after Murray.
I agree with you, Nadline!
After Muzz retires, the Center Court at Wimbledon should be named after him following the tradition of other slam venues.
There will definitely be a Murray statue at Wimbledon but they don’t tend to give the courts names and they are suckers for tradition act the All England Club.
ok, fair enough!
