The 1st game in the DC final (Goffin vs. Edmund) lasted 12 minutes.
You forgot to mention he won it!!!!!
Not bad for rooky DC player to win his opening service game and then go on to break Goffin.
Goffin is having a bad attack of nerves. Time to recover though in a five setter.
Dont believe it. GB is two breaks up.
Goffin must be hoping he wakes up from this nightmare PDQ. He escaped being bagelled by the skin of his teeth.
Edmunds got tight serving for the set. Goffin stepping up the pace now
GB takes the first set. Kyle Edmund held his nerve and GB is 1.0
Goffin looks ready to burst into tears. He’s a set and a break down.
What a turn up for the books. GB 2.0
An hour and a half and finally Goffin has got some momentum going and has the first break in the third set.
Goffin is a break up in the 3rd set.
ed, how is Edmund playing? I am just watching the live score so don’t know how they are actually playing.
Edmund is playing the match of his life. His second serve is vunerable but he has a lot of weapons and for first two sets was drawing UEs from Goffin with ease. Good movement on clay and powerful ground strokes. He’s gone off the boil a bit in third set and is Goffin is back in the match. Still reckon it’s doubtful he has recovered enough to overcome a two set deficit,
Edmund two breaks down.
Really like Leon Smith’s handling of his players. He does a great job helping to keep them relaxed – none of the hectoring you see from most of the captains.
Goffin being more aggressive but Edmond responding well.
However his level has dropped, And he is not accustomed to five setters – his serve and footwork have gone off. Mental fatigue taking its toll.
Goffin’s experience over Edmond’s lack off is beginning to show.
Hope Edmund goes for broke in the 5th set.
Edmund bageled! No shame in that though! He gave Goffin a fright!
But Edmund nearly bageled Goffin in the first set. He was leading 5:0 before Goffin clawed back 3 games. I thought he was going to beat Goffin in straight sets. Meanwhile Andy is being given a tough fight by Bemelmans; they have already broken each other but Andy has just broken him a 2nd time to lead 4:2 in the first set.
I had to go out suddenly to take a neighbour to hospital so missed the rest of the match.
Had the feeling Edmund had hit the wall. Brave effort on his part though.
Hilarious. The stadium holds 13,000 people but the Brit contingent are making more noise than all Belgians put together.
Belgium vs GB 1:1
I remembered today about the DC. So I did get to see Murray’s match. I didn’t see the Edmund/Goffin one. I need to keep on top of it to see if Murray and company can do it.
