  1. nadline, thanks for the warning about the fake fed racquets. As acourtesy, I’ve warned the federazzi on T-X. See below. Hope it gets approved.

Let’s put aside our differences for now as this is a critical matter!

As a Rafan, I just want to reach out to the federazzi and warn any of them who are contemplating purchasing a new tennis racquest as I know most of them are real tennis players themselves! It’s true!

Anyways, before purchasing a new racquet, I direct your attention to the following lawsuit against Wilson, Fed’s long time sponsor and racquet supplier.

    Hope this helps!!!

  2. “I can at least respect his honesty as a breath of fresh air after dealing with the hypocrisy on T-X. ”

You and me together, @hawkeye63. There is nothing snide about that, it’s a straight up, in your face Rafa-shafting, no hypocrisy. For me, Ruin’s blog is straight-up farce! T-X otoh is……evil.

  3. I think Ruin’s gone soft, mad or both:

    Choice quotes:

    1. “Now onto something a little more serious. I want to discourage the doping accusations toward Nadal from here on(yes Rich, that goes for you as well). I know I have been guilty of this myself in the past, but there are two reasons I want it to stop: (1) we don’t have any hard proof and (2) it reflects poorly on Fedfans and this blog.”

Next, Ruin will be declaring Rafa the GOAT! Verily, verily, Rafa’s come-back has addled his brains…..

    2. “We must remain righteous in our thoughts and actions if we want to endure.”

Oh, I get it, he has discovered Jesus……………

    3. “People get the wrong impression about this blog. They think it’s just another fan blog because of the name. But I have always stated that this is first of all a tennis blog, and second a Federer blog.”

Hey Ruin, are you Sean Randall in disguise?

    4. “I know I have my shortcomings and can probably seem very grumpy and egotistical at times, but at least I am honest and objective.”

Agree on the honest bit, but objective? Stay off the tipple. love.

    5. “I am not a blind worshiper who can’t find any fault with his favorite. I have always thought Roger is a great role model and ambassador for the sport, but he is not even my idol. I feel more like I’m on equal footing with him.”

Are you having a laugh? You, on an equal footing with Fed??? I knew the Federazzi were narcissistic but this is a bit much, no?

Rafa, please, please WIN AO 2014, that will be the nudge that will tip this lot over the edge………….they’re waiting.

  4. @vamosrafa, 6:37 pm, the best thing is we don’t have to respond! We just sit back and stare, agape, at the online, very public meltdowns. We let Rafa respond on our behalf…..on court.

  5. vamosrafa,

That would be nothing compared to the usual tripe that is posted on that site. Saying Rafa is very, very lucky would almost be blasphemy to the rabid Federazzi there.

I keep remembering Ben Pronin’s conspiracy theory that Rafa took off seven months so that he could work on his hard court game. No injury! Yes, he pulled out of the Olympics, where he was supposed to carry his nation’s flag, just for the sake of a conspiracy.

Then there are the doping allegations, like Ben Pronin’s accusation on the eve of the 2010 USO final, to the effect that Rafa was doping in order to get that big serve.

I am wondering what they will come up with next should Rafa win the 2014 AO! 🙂

      • ^^^^

LOL! Too funny! I would absolutely love to see them fall apart completely after Rafa wins the 2014 AO!

Double career slam! Sounds like music to my ears, but it will be a veritable nightmare for the Federazzi! 🙂

  6. OMG! If Fed continues like this, he will move higher and higher up my estimation list. He really is a cool Tweeterer:

Feel like its time for a #AskRF again in the coming days…. Good idea? #missyouguys #lemmehearyouRetweet—

Love it! Even cooler is the fact that he has moved on, while some of his fans are stuck in the bazaar!

Fed desperately needs followers, he is far behind many of his peers.
      FOLLOWERS on Twitter on 5.12.2013:
      Rafa – 5,460,887
      Djoko – 2,568,675
      Muzza – 2,269,817
      Delpo – 1,733,666
      Fed – 1,126,206

      • @augusta08, 10:03 am.

Well, at least he’s trying, many of his followers are having trouble extricating themselves from the Dark Ages!

    • To me, if the glamour he alludes to is patronage by Anna Wintour et al then agree, tennis does not need that. Only a few short steps to Kim Kardashian…………sorry.

If by glamour he means being true to the Roman virtues of gravitas, dignitas, pietas, honestas then yes to glamour. There is a reason I for one do not follow mud wrestling…………..

Damn, Fed does suit up well……………..

  7. Federer to decide soon about Davis Cup

“17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer says he will reach a decision regarding the Davis Cup in the next few weeks. The Swiss No. 1 last participated in a Davis Cup tie in 2012 against the United States but prior to that had not competed for his national team since 2004.
“In the next few weeks I will make a decision about the Davis Cup.”Federer said in an interview posted on the web site of his sponsor, Credit Suisse. “But at the moment I have no idea what it will be.”
Following his split with Paul Annacone in July, the former World No. 1 is yet to hire another coach for his upcoming season. He says he is happy working privately with Swiss Davis Cup captain Severin Luthi and is satisfied with his team at the moment.

“In Severin, I still have a coach who has been extremely helpful for me for a long time. But I don’t know if he can or wants to be on the road with me for 40 weeks next year. At the moment, I don’t know if I am going to appoint a new coach at all. I’m very happy with my team.”
Switzerland opens away against Serbia in Novi Sade, Jan. 31-Feb. 2.”

    • ^^^ I could be wrong, but didn’t Fed at one time chastise Novak for retiring so often in matches by saying if you are not well don’t play and if you play then you are well or something to that effect? If he did say that then shouldn’t he (Fed) have sat on the sidelines during his period of back trouble?

  8. ed251137@December 8, 2013 at 3:04 pm
—I’ve lost count of how many times Fed himself has cited his back problems for his sub-par performance in 2013.—

At least at the Indian Wells Masters (in March) and Hamburg&Gstaad (in July).
    Indian Wells.
¤¤Federer is nursing a tweaked back. In the presser, the Swiss indicated that his service motion wasn’t hampered, but his movement clearly was.¤¤ [Tennistalk 3/15/13]
¤¤While hiding details of back pain which bothered him during the desert event, world No. 2 Federer gave full credit to the powers of Nadal…¤¤ [Tennistalk 3/16/13]
¤¤ “Overall under the circumstances (back pain) I’m happy. It’s all right. I’ll probably maintain my schedule, but you never know. I always say I will discuss with my team what the schedule is after here once the tournament is over, and I haven’t had time to talk about it yet.”¤¤ [Tennistalk 3/16/13]

    • Hamburg&Gstaad.
¤¤ Roger Federer blamed a back injury after suffering a second embarassing defeat in a week, this time going out to world number 55 Daniel Brands in the second round at Gstaad.
      July 25, 2013.
Federer, who slipped outside the top four after flopping at Wimbledon, went out 6-3 6-4 in one hour and five minutes to the big-serving German, who is unseeded for the tournament.
It was top seed and home favourite Federer’s first match at the Swiss Open, having been granted a round-one bye. Last week he was ousted from Hamburg by world number 114 Federico Delbonis.
“I’ve had serious problems with the back, I had to get some anti-inflammatories last week in Hamburg due to the back pain,” Federer said.
“It was so tough to play and move out there today. I’ll just have to take treatment and see how it all goes.”
His participation at next month’s Montreal Masters is now in doubt. ¤¤

  9. Here’s the interview at the 2009 Australian Open where Roger comments on Novak retiring against Roddick. His comments about Novak start at about 1:33. Novak retired against Roger at Monte Carlo in 2008. Interestingly, Roger made the finals in both of those tournaments and lost them both to that dang lefty.

  10. “In the latest shift in a sports management business that appears to be trending toward the boutique, Roger Federer has joined with his longtime agent Tony Godsick and two American investors to form an agency called Team8.

The company, based in the Cleveland area and headed by Godsick, will represent the interests of Federer, the 32-year-old Swiss tennis star, who is one of the world’s highest-earning and most popular athletes. But Team8 also has signed one of Federer’s main rivals, the fifth-ranked Juan Martín del Potro of Argentina, with input from Federer, who spent considerable time with del Potro on an exhibition tour of South America last year.

Grigor Dimitrov, a rising 22-year-old Bulgarian whom many tennis experts view as a potential Grand Slam champion, confirmed in an email that he would also join Team8, effective Jan. 1.”
