  1. I actually feel better to see Rafa practicing with his old racket. I am not sure that it was a good idea to change rackets at this time, especially given Rafa’s issues. He’s not feeling confident and struggling. I also believe that it was said that this new racket might cause less control. I think it gives more power, but at a cost.

There is a reason why Rafa is going back to his old racket. We just have to trust in the decision making with Rafa and his team at this time. There is a lot at stake in Madrid and Rome. We know it and so do they.

  2. Empty seats are everywhere (especially at Roland Garros where Rafa is gonna win No. 10, for sure, no?).

“Someone needs to send this to tournaments, starting with the French Open. Obviously, when there are suites and boxes involved, it can be hard to give the unoccupied premium seating to the great unwashed. But there has to be a way to a) reward the real tennis fans and b) eliminate the eyesore of vast empty seats that plague so many tennis broadcasts.

I pick on the French Open because it’s a Grand Slam, but also because there is a certain irony. The Roland Garros grounds are absolutely packed, to an unpleasant degree. So much so that there are long lines for restrooms and persistent discussions about expansion. Watching from home you would never know this. You watch Court Central and it could be mistaken for the crowd at Wednesday’s Orioles game.”

Rafael Nadal not panicking over tennis slump ahead of French Open tilt

Rafael Nadal has insisted that he will not panic over his worrying slump in form which has placed serious question marks over his dream of a 10th French Open title.

The 28-year-old Spaniard is down at four in the world rankings and has maximum points to defend at next week’s Madrid Masters where he is the double defending champion.

Nadal has just one title to his name this season – on clay in Buenos Aires – while his only victory over a top-10 player came against compatriot David Ferrer in Monte Carlo, where he went on to a tame semi-final loss to in-form Novak Djokovic.

But the 14-time major winner believes the clay courts of Madrid, where he was also champion in 2010, give him the perfect opportunity to jumpstart his bid for a 10th triumph at the French Open in June.

“I have the confidence that I am doing things well. When you do all you can, you can’t ask for any more,” Nadal was quoted by El Pais.

“I need to have a balanced point of view that is not too negative or positive. If I maintain the same desire and work rate, I hope to once again have the same chance to compete for everything like I have in the past.”

Nadal’s most recent outing ended in a dispiriting third-round exit to Italy’s Fabio Fognini on clay in Barcelona, a venue where he had been champion eight times.

However, he believes Madrid can represent a turning point as he attempts to re-establish himself as a major force in the sport after an injury and illness-hit conclusion to 2014 which saw him miss three months of the season.

“Madrid has always brought me positive energy. Both the fans and the city have given me everything I could dream of. I know things have gone worse that I would have liked up until now, but that doesn’t negate my excitement to be here,” he said.

“I can only keep going. After so many ups and downs I am sure that the consistency I want to have will arrive. If you have the desire, and I have, you can turn the situation around.”

    Vamos Rafa!

Reportedly, he was banned somewhere because of sabotaging Rafa’s thread.

Surely somebody who defends CryBaby and posts a picture of smiling Roger on another NadalNews2.0 page with a database as their only friend can find an ounce of evidence to support such a claim.

    Hilarious!!!
