  1. Muller might not even beat Cuevas, let alone Nishikori.
Zverev in the semis? Possible, but theres Berdych in the way who he’s never beaten.

  2. Quarters:
    Djokovic over Raonic in 3
    Federer over Muller in 4
    Zverev over Delpo in 5
    Murray over Gasquet in 4

    Semis:
    Djokovic over Federer in 4
    Murray over Zverev in 4

    Finals:
Djokovic over Murray in 5 (biased pick)

  3. Naaah, I really doubt that Zverev will make the SFs, let alone the 4th round lol. You gotta remember that he’s only 19, inexperienced, and inconsistent, playing on a surface that he’s barely played in the past except this year where he had success in his home country. I wouldn’t be too surprised if he even loses to Youzhny in R2 given how solid Youzhny is on grass and in grand slams.

I also don’t think Muller will make it that far…he may be already exhausted from the past few weeks, I don’t see a deep run from him.

I also think Anderson has a real shot of upsetting Goffin, and I def don’t think Djokovic will beat Raonic in 3. Milos is having the year of his life, and after a very good performance at Queens I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes out Djokovic.

Wawrinka’s quarter is most interesting because it’s so unpredictable that many players, esp seeds (including Delpo) can make the Qs the SFs. I still think Berdych will make the semis given his previous success on grass and in slams and I think Thiem may very well lost in the 1st round, esp if he won’t be playing his A game, which is hard in the 1st round.

  4. Well on tennis draw challenge i also picked Muller qfs and Zverev sf. For me Gilles is a top 10/15 player on grass courts and he has a really good draw. However, quarterfinals are his max here for sure. As for Zverev he has a really fine draw to, Berdych is totally beatable for him and I have a feeling that this time he beats Thiem (if the Austrian even gets to that match, remember Florian Mayer). I also don’t think he is going to meet Stan in the quarterfinals, I bet Wawrinka gets taken out earlier either by Del Potro or Tomic.

  5. Between post-Brexit depression and the absence of Rafa I’m having difficulty summing up interest in this year’s Wimbledon draw. I’m off to Canterbury Cathedral next week for the ordination of a friend who is about to become the 9th woman to be ordained as a Bishop in England so will not be watching Wimby till next weekend any way.

Hoping to see some of the YoungGen get through to the second week – as long as it’s not at Andy’s expense.

    • ed,

I am feeling much the same way. But I do want to see if Murray can win Wimbledon this time. I agree about being interested in seeing the young guns do well. Of course, not at Murray’s expense!

I do expect some intriguing and worthy matches. There is a lot of young talent in this game and they have made themselves heard this year. We’ve had a glimpse of the future after the current top players are done.

  6. Tennis without competition is boring. Rafa was the only one who consistently provided it. By beating Fed or Djokovic when they threatened to dominate and beating himself (injuries) when he threatened to dominate!
In short , we need another Rafa if the old one doesn’t come back!

    • Agree with Mary. Im not keen seeing somebody beating Fed’s 17 if there’s no competition. Imo, Rafa is the only one who can provide the competition when he’s fit and healthy – he’s 4-4 vs Djoko at the slams from 2011 onwards; Fed was 2-7 vs Djoko; Murray was 2-8 vs Djoko.

    • Mary W
The mould was broken after they created Rafa. In the 60 years I’ve been watching tennis I’ve seen most of the great players who went on to become legends but I can think of nobody who matched up to Rafa in his prime. He is the complete package and the tennis world owes him a huge debt for the resurgence of interest in tennis since he burst onto the scene.

      • You are right ed. Probably we will never see his like again.
Even Peter Bodo admitted tennis needs Rafa. Secretly, the Nole fans are missing him too. Nole’s RG victory and non calendar year grand slam have gone practically unheralded by the media because of the lack of competition which has taken away the thrill and excitement of such feats.

  11. COMPLETELY biased lol!! I’m dreaming but it’s just picks I’m not betting or anything. If I was I would definitely change this up.

    • I mean I thinks it’s possible though. But kind of a long shot cuz he’s not doing so well lately. If it actually happens I’ll be over the moon. I actually surprised myself by not making it a Roger over Stan final cuz Stan’s my second favorite lol.

      • Also I typically like to go bold anyways and I guess at this point picking Roger is going bold. Still the guy has won 7 Wimbledons. If anyone is gonna surprise us and rise up out of nowhere here at Wimby it’s Roger. Or maybe Kyrgios.

          • Come on Ricky you know what I mean haha. By nowhere I meant not a great year and all these injuries and how no one expects that much from him this year. Didn’t mean it like if I said Willis makes a run out of nowhere. That would truly be out of nowhere lol.

          • i mean it’s funny that what it has come to for Federer is being defined as coming “from out of nowhere”

          • Then again Marcus Willis has made a run out of nowhere already. A run by his standards of course.

          • Oh yeah lol. I mean just that injury really screwed things up. Such a dumb injury too with like hurting himself running a bath for his kids. Really sucks but if he plays well here and goes deep I think he should be able to get some momentum back to turn his season around. He may not be getting any older but the guy seems friggin immortal so I honestly think he might have a better shot next year given this year’s circumstances. Had to pick him though. My head tells me go Novak or Andy but my heart/gut/bias tells me pick Fed again. All in all no matter who wins this tournament looks poised to be really exciting and interesting with lots of upsets and thrilling matches. Can’t wait. Honestly the match happening tomorrow I especially can’t wait for is Willis and Berankis cuz I would really love to see Willis win that. It would be so epic. I have him winning in 5 and I hope that happens. Berankis didn’t really respond to well to Nottingham crowd against Evans so if that was the case there then the Wimby crowd rooting for Willis could rattle him too. If u watch the Evans vs Berankis highlights u could tell Berankis wasn’t happy about the situation lol. Come on Willis!!

  12. Mad props for doing this, I was halfway thru Round 1 and then it took me too long. I’ll just post my last 16 picks and the rest

    last 16:
Djokovic wins against Mahut in 4
    Raonic beats Anderson in 3
Federer beats S. Johnson in 3
Müller beats Karlovic in 5 (this would be an epic encounter, could very well see this happen too – Ivo has quite an easy path and Cilic has played like shit all season tbh)

    Zverev beats Mayer in 5
Tomic beats Wawrinka in 5 (#berniecares!)
Gasquet beats in Isner in 4
    Murray beats Kyrgios in 4

    QF:
Raonic beats Djokovic in 5 (I really think this could be the year that someone upsets Djokovic here, and if that happens, Raonic is the one to do it.)
    Federer beats Müller in 3

    Zverev beats Tomic in 5
    Murray beats Gasquet in 4

    SF:
    Federer beats Raonic in 4
    Murray beats Zverev in 3

    F:
Murray beats Federer in 5 (although I would really enjoy seing Fed win another one, but Murray has just been so good this year

really am as high on Zverev as others…think this could be a special 2 weeks for him.
