        • really don’t see the argument for Djoker. He barely beat Nadal on an indoor grass court.

and if anything Djoker has gotten worse since Wimbledon and Nadal has gotten better.

          • Thanks for the “indoor grass court” Ricky!! Too damn true haha!
I have since found loads of fed fan commentators and ex players saying the match should never have been played indoors on the Saturday…
So much for it being rafa fans who were pissed off about the whole silly scenario…

          • Well it’s not Wimbledon’s incompetence at all, the rules are that the condition had to be the same as on Friday, unless both players agreed otherwise.

Djokovic would be an idiot if he agreed and I can’t see anyone to blame here.

          • Djokovic certainly isn’t to blame. He woulda been out of his mind to change the conditions.

it’s the tournament to blame. dumb rule.

          • It wasn’t a rule! And it broke wimby’s actual rule that matches should be played outside whenever possible! They didn’t even close the roof on Friday because of bad light they closed it to save time!
Rafa said it wasn’t right but who cares what he thinks!

      • Rafa will have lots of night matches. He’s #1, he’s the defending champ. Night is the prime spot at the USO.

Fed will also have night matches. I mean, he’s ROGER FEDERER, possibly the most popular player of all time and a 5 time champion at the USO. Not sure whether Djoko will even get a night match before the quarters, although he’s a 2 time champ and quite popular in NY.

      • Rafa will have mostly night matches despite his preference for playing in the sun.

Djoko will be denied night matches until the qf. Djoko will be popular with the crowd until they turn on him and cheer his double faults and time violations vs fed as they did in Cincy.

  1. It’s time to play another round of “Which Big 3 Just Said”:

“I try to bring simplicity and craftsmanship and beauty back onto the tennis court.”

    #HUMB2E

      • Round 2!!!

“I have so many appearances—just take all my press conferences. There’s no reason that I have to show up in a tennis outfit at a press conference. I could start showing up like this if I wanted to. People would look at me funny in the locker room, saying, ‘Where are you going?’ And I could tell them, ‘I’m going to a press conference.’

“There’s ideas on my side, from press conferences to trophy ceremonies to when you’re walking on court. There’s a lot of different pieces that assemble an entire tennis outfit.”

  2. I’m gonna take a good look at the draw later today and have these up soon, including my daily picks and other picks on separate pages. Can’t wait to discuss and watch the event with you guys!! #P.S.MullerDrewLorenzoSonegoInHisLastSlamWoohoo

    • Well, Llodra had won five singles titles during his career including a Rotterdam (a 500 event) title; besides, Llodra was mainly a doubles player and he had 26 doubles titles including three slam titles. Not bad for one who didn’t have a big serve! Movement is also important for a tennis player, quick reflexes at the net too for a S&V player.

  3. I think Nole is back to close to his best. A Nole Rafa final is likely which is always tough to call, but I would give the slight edge to Novak. He also has a good draw, as long as he makes it through Fed which I don’t think he should have much trouble with.

  4. Yes,I give a slight edge to Nole over Rafa should they meet. The Montreal champion v the Cincinnati one.
The part of the draw with Stan,Grigor etc is tricky .What form is Isner in ,I wonder?
I actually fancy Raonic to go far here.

  5. If Djoker BH DTL is working neither Fed nor Rafa stand any chance. Djoker becomes a different player if this shot is working fully.

    • I am surprised how many people see Djokivic clear favourite against Fed. He is just slightly favorite. Might lose as well in 3 or 4. He has the easiest path leading to QF- true. If Roger can win vs Kyrgios/ or Nick retires, I like his chances to go over Novak.

      • Federer in 5 sets though? Novak isn’t looking as thin as he was earlier this year. He has more muscle on his legs and I think he outlasts Roger. But of course I could be wrong. And Kyrgios is potentially dangerous to either of them.

      • Djoko is favorite over Fed imo. Fed couldnt even win in BO3 on his fave HC at Cincy; USO court is slower and BO5 match will be more taxing on him, even though I find Djoko has fitness issue to if the match goes to five sets.

    • Dont stand any chance? Dont think so, when Rafa did beat Djoko in 2010 and 2013 when Djoko was hitting his BHDTL very well.

Rafa will outlast this Djoko anyway, as long as match is played and finished in one day.

  6. All 4 of the espn expert picks are for Rafa! That really surprised me…I thought for sure people would go for Nole.
Two have predicted Simona winning and two have predicted Stephens.

  7. Nny are you ok??? I haven’t seen you here recently except for an occasional post which is uncharacteristic. Bit worried you aren’t well.
    Thinking of you….

    • amy,

I am okay. I just haven’t been posting that much. Ready for tennis, though!

I would not write off Fed so quickly. He could bounce back here. You never know. I like Rafa’s chances with his draw. It’s on his racket.

I will say that if Rafa gets to the final and faces Novak again, he is not losing!

      • Nny!…I agree with u!!…I don’t know about evryone else but to me,i’ve never been so sure about Rafa’s chances of winning USO like this year…Hope my intuition will be proved right 2 sunday from now….Insyaallah!..Vamos Rafa!!

  8. Benny do you really see Stan as the fourth fave to win here?! Surely a big ask for him.
If rafa doesn’t win i want Delpo to win.I wish they weren’t always on the same side of the draw in the recent slams.
Surprised hawkconspiracy hasn’t concocted a theory about that one!!!!

    • Stan seems back in business. If he can beat Dimitrov round one, he can go very far. Remember he hasn’t lost here since 2015 😉

      • Tignor picked Stan to make the sf and lose to rafa Benny!
Tiggy is usually a jinx so I am glad he picked Nole to take the title!

  9. My betting picks
Carballes Baena to Beat Krueger at 2.10
Edmund to beat Lorenzi and over 31.5 games at 1.98
Schwartzman will win quarter three at odds 34.0
Nadal to win US Open at 4.25

  10. All six.
Dysdale, Shriver, Gilbert, McEnroe, Evert and Fernandes.

I hope they are not jinxing Rafa because they always get it wrong.

    • Nadal will win the US Open
Nadal is the first favorite, and Djokovic is close but behind him.
Federer is getting older and we cannot keep expecting him to win grand slams forever.
I even put 100 dollars on rafa winning the us open at 4.25.

  16. I can’t watch this. He all but had the fourth set. Now he’s just a ghost out there… 🙁 I am officially sad… #ThankYouGilles #AllezGillesForever

  17. I’m actually mad at Sonego for celebrating like he did. Shut the hell up and let Muller take some applause for retiring. #BennyIsMadNow

    • Sorry about that, Alison. It’s getting so expensive to have coverage of the GS’s.
Tennistv and WTAtv don’t stream them. So I pay for the biggest package Directv to get it. It’s maddening.

      • Yes, that looked scary. FAA had a rapid heartbeat & felt dizzy or something and retired? ESPN had switched to the music stuff (WHY does the USO do this stupid stuff? No other tournament does. Maybe I should be grateful they don’t do “halftime” shows.) Anyway, the commies didn’t seem quite sure what had happened.

  18. Interesting that this year most experts have picked Rafa as the most likely overall winner. Even Jon Wertheim picked him over Djokovic. Only Steve Tignor picked the Djoker! Given his track record, though, this can only be good news for Rafafans, lol!
But looking at the draw and current form, the experts certainly have a point…

  21. Hey everyone,
I have been following this site for a while and have just been trying to muster up courage to actually post on it. I love the site and all the discussions, it’s really enlightening for someone who loves to watch tennis for over ten years, but never had the means to so had to resort to just checking the score every ten minutes. All the insights are amazing. Anyway, I have Rafa winning over Nole in the final.
