Then we have the spring season with the French Open taking place in the last days of May, the summer season with the Wimbledon commencing in late June and beginning of July, and then we have the closing U.S. Open. The U.S. Open takes place late summer or early fall and it is the last Grand Slam tournament of the calendar year.
Indian Wells: BNP Paribas Open
A top-notch tournament attracting the top seeds of tennis and the attention of tennis fans all around the world. “Tennis Paradise,” as it is often referred to, takes place in California and it is considered to be one of the most prestigious events in the sport.
The Indian Wells Masters is held annually at the beginning of March and it combines both ATP and WTA tours in a fascinating two-week schedule.
Laver Cup
This one is a drop-dead interesting tournament, which is held annually between Europe and the rest of the World. It takes place at the end of September and it features the top seeds of the sport forming teams and competing for the cup. There are the European teams and the World teams!
ATP and WTA finals
The ATP finals is among the oldest championships in tennis and it is scheduled every year around mid-November. Players have gathered points and prizes from events and tours and they enter the ATP finals, where they play to get the championship. This is for the male tennis players.
For the female tennis players, we have the WTA Finals (Women’s Tennis Association), which work pretty much the same. These are held every year in fall (during late October).

The thing is that it is not only about big tournaments in tennis. There are hundreds of smaller championships and competitions scheduled in various parts of the world, which are not only fun and exciting to watch but also have significance from a tennis perspective. From the Atlanta Open and the Stockholm Open to the Miami Open and the Barcelona Open, these four are only a few of the many many more tournaments that are happening every year and that are getting all the attention of fans across the globe.
