    • Rafa is having fish tonight, so am I and I’ll be watching Spain too.
Just one note of caution, Rafa, don’t buy your fish from the S. Market.

      • They area not ready meals, they are fresh fish cleaned and ready to cook Compared to what’s available in Spain, I don’t think the fish will live up to what Rafa is used to but he’ll have to make do with what’s available.

      • Disgusting. You can never tell how long the so-called “fresh” fish have been in the freezer, can you? Supermarkets should be banned.

      • augusta08 says: June 19, 2014 at 9:22 am

I would rather Rafa did not have to go foraging for his dinner at all, especially in bacteria-infested supermarkets. Fresh fish CAN be brought to his house. It is possible.

Fishing in the Thames? No comment…………

    • U know what’s so amazing, every year a Wimby Rafa is always pictured at the Supermarket shopping and he seems to enjoy cooking. You never see Roger or Mirka in the supermarket doing the same………..

  1. RT @Wimbledon : “Did you know? This year @RafaelNadal is looking to join Bjorn Borg as the only player to do the Roland Garros-Wimbledon double THREE times”

    Why not?

    Vamos Rafa!

  2. This is an interesting read. Rafa’s rituals (those which are panned as a sign of OCD used as by some) are used as inspiration by one of the strongest teams at the World Cup: Uruguay!

    http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/jun/18/world-cup-2014-uruguay-england-group-d

“Diego Godín recalls that Gustavo Zerbino, one of the survivors of the Andes tragedy in 1972, gave them a talk during the qualifiers, telling them they had to go back to the ritual or habits they had had when things were going well. Those that also helped them to focus, even if it was just putting one sock on before the other before a game. And he also recalls that Zerbino gave as an example the tennis player Rafael Nadal. “You see Nadal play a tennis match,” Godín explains, “and it drives you crazy because he always does the same thing and the guy is No1. The tennis player is the maximum expression of concentration and Nadal always touches his hair, bounces the ball I don’t know how many times … And he always does the same thing. Why? Because he repeats a ritual that serves to concentrate and focus him on the next point.”

There is method to Rafa’s “madness”…………

    VAMOS RAFA!!

    DRIVE THEM CRAZY!!

    • rafaisthebest ( at 3:09 pm),
      — Rafa’s rituals (those which are panned as a sign of OCD used as by some)—

‘A sign of OCD’ is another myth created by pro-Fed people!!!

      • I’m not sure if it was in Rafa’s biography (which I have yet to read) but i know I’ve read somewhere U.Toni says Rafa is OCD even at home. But interestingly watching the video clips of the Gasquet match I noticed he did none of the pre-serve rituals. Does anyone remember when they date from. All I know is he has been adding new ones each season but is now making a huge effort to get them under control.

      • ed, they’ve gotten exponentially worse over the last two years. He had very few in 2008 Wimbly vs Fed.

I’ve only considered them potentially debilitating over the last six months or so.

      • hawkeye63 ( at 3:35 pm),
I have noticed that you believe all (?) the myths created by the Federazzi. I am wondering, if it’s the influence of visiting their site(s)?

        • Wrong as usual when it comes to me gussie:

federazzi still think fed is goat, that fed’s losses to rafa are because rafa is in his head, that age wasn’t an advantage in first Wimby meetings with Rafa, that draws/scheduling aren’t rigged, I could write a book but these examples are more than enough to prove your incorrect myths about me wrong yet again!

          Hilarious!

Thanks for trying. Please come again.

      • Oh noooo!!! The Federazzi think the world is round!!!!! So do I!!!!!!

        Uncle “Federazzi” Toni Says;
Man, At first I didn’t mind, but a player who puts bottles and not step lines is obsessive. Once he told me about a movie, ‘As Good As It Gets,’ [he said], ‘How superstitious the main character was!’ And I said, ‘He’s like you.’ And he replied: ‘No, no.’

      • Hey gussie. Figure out who coind the term Federazzi yet? Soon you’ll be using #hastags here like all the federazzi on T-X.

—Figure out who coind the term Federazzi yet?—
Do you want to charge me for using this term???

As for hastags, I know that you started to use them in TT like you are doing. I have never did & I’ll never do this your way.
Once upon a time, I used hastags as a quotation marks. Now, I am avoiding to do this.

      • hawkeye63,

Once upon a time (actually not long ago), deucy tried to convince me that Rafa has OCD.
She posted zillions of articles. It seems that you and her have the same sources. She didn’t succeed ( reportedly she went to the believers).

      • No payment necessary. The credit is more than rewarding enough for me.

Wouldn’t dare try to convince you or anyone anything augusta, just defending my position when challenged and will continue to do so, even if you think that makes be a federazzi or poor Rafan.

  3. Too tempted to walk away. Here is what the man himself says.

    Nadal describes this particular ritual:

“I put the two bottles down at my feet, in front of my chair to my left, one neatly behind the other, diagonally aimed at the court. Some call it superstition, but it’s not. If it were superstition, why would I keep doing the same thing over and over whether I win or lose? It’s a way of placing myself in a match, ordering my surroundings to match the order I seek in my head.”

You can also feast on Rafa rituals here

Best compilation I have seen so far.

    • That’s not all he does.

He’s added to his repertoire such as whipping his head violently three times before applying his headband. He’s gonna give himself whiplash, for sure, no?

But, to be fair, it’s only a disorder if it begins to impact his performance and for the most part, the glass is more than half full on whether it has or not.

Earlier this year, I believe it started to. He looked stressed trying to rush all of his rituals in fear of getting a time vilolation but it looks as if he’s subdued it for the time being.

  4. @nadline10, @hawkeye63 and @augusta08: if you 3 do not stop this argument now, I am going to commit ritual murder, on you lot!

  5. Australia are pegging the Dutch 1-1 right now………….good news for Spain if the scoreline remains like that to the end.

Make an argument out of that, you 3!

    • Some more good news for Spain, Australia’s “danger-man”, Tim Cahill, has been shown his second yellow card of the tournament and will therefore miss the game against Spain. So, Spain’s fate really does rest in their own hands. They have to beat Chile tonight.

  6. What I’d like to know Gussie is WHY does it bother YOU so much that Rafa’s need to go through a complex series of rituals in order to focus on the match/stay in the zone, or however else you want to describe it, is seen as a form of OCD?

    • I think it adds to his genius and legacy.

He is a true legend with such a rich story behind him! I just think as good as he is, he’d be even better without it.

There should be a movie about him 20 years from now. Any other player pales in comparison in terms of possible story lines.

—What I’d like to know Gussie is WHY does it bother YOU so much that Rafa’s need to go through a complex series of rituals—
It DOES NOT bother me at all !!! I like to watch him, no matter what he is doing!
Rafa’s rituals have bothered the Federazzi!

      —a form of OCD—’
You wrote above: “i know I’ve read somewhere U.Toni says Rafa is OCD even at home.”

It’s not true! U.Toni has never said that Rafa has been OCD (= ill) ! He says that Rafa is superstitious!!! And Rafa says that he is not superstitious – he has rituals.

      • You didn’t answer Ed’s question augusta. You broke it up and twisted it, a method used by the #Federazzi(TM). Please read more carefully.

Unca T also said Rafa was obsessive.

“Man, At first I didn’t mind, but a player who puts bottles and not step lines is OBSESSIVE. “

      • Toni never used the word “sick”. He said “obsessive” and also compared Rafa to Jack Nicholson’s character in As Good As It Gets who had OCD, a mental disorder.

You still didn’t answer Ed’s question. Why does it bother you that myself or others believe that Rafa’s rituals could be a case of OCD? So what? It would in no way diminish who he is or what he has achieved. But maybe you think it would and that’s what bothers you about it?

The only reason it would bother me is that I’d like to see it cured to reduce his anxiety and maximize his potential.

      • ed251137@June 18, 2014 at 9:37 pm
        1. I don’t believe that Rafa is mentally ill (=has OCD).
        2. I don’t believe that U.Toni said Rafa was/is mentally ill (=has OCD).
        3. Rafa’s on-court routines don’t bother me.

  7. Wow. Check this out (holdserve would be proud):

Other than the French Open (where Fed has avoided Nadal’s half for the last four years in a row, a 6% random occurrence), Fed has been paired in Rafa’s half in the last four non-clay majors when Rafa played, also a 6% random occurrence: 2014 Aussie, 2013 Wimbly/USO and 2012 Aussie all post Super Novak.

    • hawkeye63 ( at 6:59 pm),

Why does it bother me that YOU THINK that Rafa is mentally ill ???

My answer: I think that Rafa IS NOT mentally ill!!!
I don’t understand why it bothers you that I don’t believe he is ill.

      • That is an answer, but not to my question.

It doesn’t bother me that you don’t believe he is ill. What have I posted to suggest this?

But you’ve posted much suggesting you are bothered by my opinions by trying to align me with federazzi or pro-Fed and asking me how long I will “spread myths”.

I won’t ask you any more about this augusta as it is clear you don’t wish to discuss it.

      • hawkeye63 (at 7:34 pm),
—…you don’t believe he is ill. What have I posted to suggest this?—

Try to find WHERE you suggested that Rafa has OCD – a mental illness!

      • Here is my question (unclipped by you):
“It doesn’t bother me that you don’t believe he is ill. What have I posted to suggest this?”

Sorry gussie, my posts about the possibility in no way suggest that I give a monkey’s on your opinion that Rafa doesn’t have OCD.

However, as I’ve said, there are plenty posts from you to suggest that you are bothered by my opinion.

        All good gussie. No worries.

    • Indeed. And the chance that both of these ‘streaks’ took place randomly together is much lower yet: 0.06 squared which is 0.36% or 1 in 300.

Remember the chance that Novak and Roger were in the same half at 13 (!) consecutive slam (1 in 8,000 chance for this to have happened entirely randomly (until a short time into Novak 2.0 at which point the pattern magically no longer continued).

So what is the likelihood of every single one of the above draw results to have happened through strictly random draws? 1 chance in 300 x 8,000, that is 1 chance in 2,400,000.

So at least a _few_ if not very many of these draws were not random.

      #RandomOrder

  8. Ah well, Rafa has no choice, he has to win Wimbledon to restore Spain’s honour………

They are going out at the group stage.

  9. RT @TomPerrotta Well, at least Rafael Nadal will not have soccer to distract him at Wimbledon.”

    #EveryCloudHasASilverLining

  10. haha…slowly but surely, every rafa fan here except for a ‘few exceptions’, will be termed as either a Federrazi or Rafa detracter/hater n ! Ridiculous !

  11. The ‘argument’ has already been put to an end but boy , it was such an absurd ‘argument’…HOW can anyone claim that the french have not had anything against rafa ! it’s never been the case that they have ‘hated’ or even ‘disliked’ rafa, but rafa has NOT been their ‘top preference’ !! It has been Federer ! So where is the problem here?! There are countless instances to support this ! There are many who love rafa in Paris and a lot of support was shown for rafa this year too. But fed is their to preference. When fed was competing against Monfils in RG 2008 semi, even then there was massive support for fed !

Rafa is loved in every part of the world and so is federer. Both have their haters and detractors too. There are regions where rafa is loved more and there are regions where federer is loved more. And this whole theory about there being a propaganda against rafa launched by pro-Fed journalists, commentators, tournament organizers and other Federrazi is nonsensical, In my view at least.

  12. so rafa’s playing tomorrow……against Robredo! its an ideal opponent for rafa to get some good match practice and gain rhythm
