Paire qualifies, but Pauline steals the show

Benoit Paire rolled into the Cincinnati main draw on Sunday with a routine 6-2, 6-2 qualifying win over Blaz Rola. It was entirely straightforward match in which Paire even kept his antics to a minimum. A two-minute outburst over an apparent botched line call late in the first set was the only real extracurricular activity.

As such, the show was wide open to be stolen by Paire’s girlfriend, Pauline.

Edouard Roger-Vasselin and friends showed up for the match midway through the second set. Although it looked like Roger-Vasselin was not too interested in the match itself:

Paire became less interested in the match, too, once his posse arrived:

Paire–and presumably Pauline–will be back on Tuesday when the Frenchman faces Steve Johnson in the first round. If he wins, a second-round date with Ernests Gulbis could be in the cards. Get your popcorn–and your camera–ready.
