The first week of the spring clay-court swing wraps up in Bucharest and Marrakech on Sunday. At the former, Sebastian Baez is going up against Flavio Cobolli; at the latter, it’s Tallon Griekspoor vs. Luciano Darderi.
Tiriac Open: (1) Sebastian Baez vs. (3) Flavio Cobolli
Baez and Cobolli will be going head-to-head for the first time in their careers when they battle for the Bucharest title on Sunday. A clay-court final is nothing new for Baez, who already has one title (Rio de Janeiro) and one runner-up performance (Santiago) in 2025. Six of his seven ATP trophies and all three of his runner-up showings have come on the red stuff. The 36th-ranked Argentine is one win from an eighth title following victories this week over Gabriel Diallo, Francisco Comesana, and defending champion Marton Fucsovics.
Cobolli’s appearance in the final is far more surprising. The 45th-ranked Italian had been a horrendous 2-8 for the year heading into Bucharest, but he has turned things around by taking out Richard Gasquet, Filip Misolic, and Damir Dzumhur. Based on overall form, a considerable surface edge on clay, and much more experience in this kind of situation, Baez should have a significant edge in this matchup.

Grand Prix Hassan II: (1) Tallon Griekspoor vs. (7) Luciano Darderi
Griekspoor is pretty much the definition of an all-court player. The 37th-ranked Dutchman has already won titles on a hard court and grass, so it is fitting that he is finally in a clay-court final and one win from three titles on three different surfaces. Griekspoor’s outstanding 2025 form has continued with Marrakech victories over Pablo Carreno Busta, Mattia Bellucci, and Kamil Majchrzak.
Up next for the top seed is a third meeting with Darderi, who trails the head-to-head series 2-0. Griekspoor prevailed in straight sets at the 2023 French Open and this past fall on the indoor hard courts of Paris. Just like fellow Italian Cobolli, Darderi was 2-8 in 2025 prior to this week but has suddenly bounced back to beat Tristan Boyer, Hugo Gaston, Vit Kopriva, and Roberto Carballes Baena. It’s a positive result regardless for the world No. 57, but all signs point to him coming up short of his second ATP title.
