Botic van de Zandschulp and Fabio Fognini will be going head-to-head for the second time in their careers and for the second time at the French Open when they clash in round one on Monday afternoon. In the 2022 second round it was Van de Zandschulp who advanced, leading 6-4, 7-6(2), 3-2 when Fognini retired.

These are two of the least reliable players on tour, so this match promises to be a roller-coaster ride. Van de Zandschulp is struggling outside the top 100 (No. 103), but Fognini is 37 years old and has played only seven ATP-level matches this season (4-3 record).

If this is a long match, Van de Zandschulp is more likely to hold up physically. That’s why he gets a slight edge.

Pick: Van de Zandschulp in 5
