The Internazionali BNL d’Italia battle for the No. 4 seed at Roland Garros lost one of its competitors when Milos Raonic withdrew late last week. Raonic announced that he will undergo minor surgery to repair a pinched nerve in his right foot.
I will be undergoing surgery to repair a nerve in my right foot. I withdrew from Rome to be ready to compete as soon as possible.

The world No. 4 retired from a Monte-Carlo match against Tomas Berdych with the same problem before returning in Madrid. He again reached the quarterfinals but was hobbled in a straight-set loss to eventual champion Andy Murray.
Recovery time post-surgery is reportedly two weeks. That would give Raonic a chance of being ready for the French Open later this month.
