Serving with a break lead at 1-0 in the third set of his quarterfinal match against Robin Haase at the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament on Friday night, Roger Federer struck what appeared to be an ace. There was no out call, but Federer prepared to hit a second serve.
Haase: “Roger, no one called out.”
Federer: “It’s out.”
The Swiss hit a second serve, won the point, and eventually won the match 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 to clinch the No. 1 world ranking on Monday.

Great sportsmanship.
Be interesting to see if he would do that in the tighter moments in the AO final this year.
Besides, Haase had waved his arm obviously about to challenge and Fed, knowing it was out, could tell he would have lost the challenge regardless and wanted to keep his rhythm for the second serve.
What’s the big deal exactly? Oh right, it’s Roger.

I’d be equally impressed if anyone else did the same.
I don’t know whether he would do that in a slam final, probably not. But WHO would from top 10? The overall tension and feeling is very different in a slam final.
