Miomir Kecmanovic and Marco Cecchinato will be going head-to-head for the second time in their careers when they square off in the semifinals of the Estoril Open on Saturday afternoon.
Their only previous encounter came last year on the Golden Swing, where Kecmanovic cruised 7-5, 6-1 in Santiago. That it was on clay should only give the Serb confidence, as his opponent is the essence of a clay-court specialist. Although Kecmanovic is generally at his best on hard courts, his only ATP title has come on the red stuff (Kitzbuhel in 2020). The world No. 40 is playing great this week, too, with straight-set beatdowns of Luca Nardi, Jurij Rodionov (6-0, 6-1), and Bernabe Zapata Miralles.
Clay could give Cecchinato–a former French Open semifinalist–a puncher’s chance, but Kecmanovic should advance.
Pick: Kecmanovic in 2
