Australian Open Day 9 prop picks

The Grandstand’s Ricky Dimon and Ben Rothenberg of the New York times have come of with seven prop bets for Day 9 at the Australian Open–seven prop bets on which they differ, to be more specific. Join the fun in the comments section with your own opinions!

1) Marin Cilic number of sets won vs. Rafael Nadal. OVER/UNDER 1.5.

BEN: UNDER.

RICKY: OVER. I would take over 2.5, too…. In other words, he’s winning.

2) Kyle Edmund number of games won +5.5 vs. Grigor Dimitrov number of games won.

BEN: OVER.

RICKY: UNDER. Edmund is running on fumes; Dimitrov is suddenly on fire.

3) Elise Mertens number of sets won vs. Elena Svitolina: OVER/UNDER 0.5.

BEN: OVER.

RICKY: UNDER. I should win this one easily. Svitolina is probably winning the title.

4) Carla Suarez Navarro number of games won vs. Caroline Wozniacki: OVER/UNDER 7.5

BEN: UNDER.

RICKY: OVER. Wozniacki doesn’t really have the game that blows people out…well, except in her last match against Magdalena Rybarikova!

5) Number of matches won on Tuesday by Gabriela Dabrowski: OVER/UNDER 0.5

BEN: UNDER.

RICKY: OVER. She has women’s and mixed. Both are tough, but she should win one. Maybe. Who knows?

6) Lucie Safarova and Barbora Strycova vs. Su-Wei Hsieh and Shuai Peng straight up.

BEN: Safarova/Strycova.

RICKY: Hsieh/Shuai. After Hsieh’s performance against Kerber, I’m never picking her to lose another match…even though, you know, she lost to Kerber….

7) Juniors: Erel vs. Svrcina straight up.

BEN: Erel.

RICKY: Svrcina. Name sounds cool.

  1. Rafa’s not losing to Cilic – I don’t think. But who knows anything can happen, as we’ve seen already in this tournament. Mertens in the semis! You gotta love it.
