Unless you are a true diehard tennis fan, you might not even know that Fernando Verdasco is still kicking it on the pro tour. After all, he hasn’t been winning any matches. The 39-year-old is toiling away at No. 293 in the world with a winless record (0-3) in main draws this season to go along with an unsuccessful qualification attempt at the Australian Open.

Up first for Verdasco in round one of the U.S. Men’s Clay Court Championship on Monday is a first-ever meeting with Kubler. The Aussie comes in at 71st in the rankings and has already won seven main-tour matches in 2023. Kubler has quietly won 237 clay-court matches in his career; no matter that most of those have come in Challengers and Futures.

In fine form right now and plenty capable on clay, Kubler should absolutely dominate an opponent who is nearing the end.

Pick: Kubler in 2
