The U.S. Open officially announced its list of seeds on Tuesday, although a simple look at the rankings would have been enough for anyone to know just as much on Monday morning. Novak Djokovic’s first-ever Western & Southern Open title propelled him from 10th to sixth in the rankings, meaning he will be a top-eight seed (No. 6 to be exact) at the season’s final Grand Slam.
As such, Djokovic cannot run into one of the top four seeds (Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Juan Martin Del Potro, and Alexander Zverev) until at least the quarterfinals. A dangerous 25-32 group includes Milos Raonic, Karen Khachanov, Denis Shapovalov, and Nick Kyrgios, who will be on course to face top eight seeds in the third round.
Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka will be among the unseeded players.
Here are the 32 seeds, shown in the groups in which they will be placed in the draw on Thursday afternoon.

could be some seriously tough draws for the top four
Yes! I looked at the atp rankings yesterday and saw kygrios is at 30. That means rafa could get him in the third round! I really hope he isn’t in Rafa ‘s quarter
Want rafa to get Zverev and for Nole to be on the other side of the draw. And for him to avoid playing kygrios so early.
Three of the Top 4 maybe.
The 25-32 section contains some very interesting players.
some nightmare R3s
Only for Rafole.
hawk, you said you’re a fan of Fed. Then moments later you imply that the best seeds will be drawn in Rafole Quarters. By that you discredit Fed in case he wins or Rafole will not succeed. That’s not fair play.
Remember when you said a year ago that Djoko is back, and you never admitted you were wrong. There is nothing wrong in admitting something like that. We are humans. And these are just opinions on tennis. Will you admit your mistake if Novak or Kyrgios, Sasha, or any other player for that matter will be in Fed’s Quarter? I don’t know about that.
You give the impression that only 10-15% of the posts here are genuine, half are noise and the rest are troll post. Sometimes you even trolling yourself, which is funny.
#Tsameoldhawk
Fed’s Quarter or Fed’s Half… you got the idea.
Did I say I was a fan of Fed? In those exact words? Possibly. I’ve been known to drink.
I’m a fan of his amazing tennis. I’m NOT a fan of the favouritism that I perceive to be very real.
I’ll admit a mistake regarding tennis as soon as Ricky does. Ricky first! That’s fair isn’t it?
That breakdown is about right. The 10-15% genuine are my own. Unfortuneately another 10-15% of the remaining categories (not saying which ones) are also my own!
If Djoko is in Federer’s quarter, I’ll call Federer GOAT for the rest of the year. Fair? Moot point because it will NEVER happen and almost everyone who’s not a fedfan knows it. Haha!
Thanks for that inspirational post Eugene. Good on ya mate!
#Humb1e
Otherwise known as some juicy early-round matches. It’ll prepare everyone for the 16-seed draw coming in 2019.
terrible
Yup. I remember those days from before. VERY hard on the top seeds – I imagine it’s better for the tournaments to sell early round tickets.
Cheryl Murray, you kyrgios?
Damn spell check. I mean serious?
Indeed, I am serious. Err…Tserious. Federer’s been pushing for it, apparently. See this article on Forbes.com (where Ricky is quoted):
https://www.forbes.com/sites/daniellerossingh/2017/11/21/roger-federers-wish-is-granted-as-tennis-majors-go-back-to-16-seeds/#7fcd505272c3
I have it on good authority that he’s also pushing for no left-handed tennis and no water bottles on display.
Well I don’t like the idea! I don’t want to see journeymen in the latter stages of slams at the expense of top players. This also is a lot tougher on top players working their way back from injury whose ranking may have slipped to 17/18!
The public wants to see the marquee players not tom dick and harry so who damn well cares about the early rounds!
# Down with fed and his silly ideas!
SO now that he’s collected his 20 slams all with 32 seed protection, it’s suddenly time to change the rules to make it harder to win slams. Always looking out for “the game”, our Roger is.

Haha hawks!happy official hawk day!!
Yeah fed is a man on a mission…otherwise known as the missionary man..!😉
Hey, I clicked on that twitter link @Dimonator and apparently, Ricky’s twitter account was suspended last week!
Must be part of the fake news media. Many people have told me that most Twitter moderators are Fedfan snowflakes. Believe me.
#MakeTennisGreatAgain
great tweet by me
What did you say ricky?!
in the Forbes article?
He said “Too bad the GOAT wasn’t in the Cincy this year.”
No in the tweet that got you banned Ricky!
i posted a video of Kyrgios forgetting his tennis shoes LOL
That evil w****r Alex Jones only got banned for a week from Twitter! So presumably it’s only for a short time…!
let’s hope!
You’re kidding Ricky!!??
i’m not kidding
How does that breach Twitter ‘s incredibly lax – ie infested with wholesome grinning Nazis – community standards??
I’m guessing copyright laws.
How much you can get away with on Twitter is directly proportional to the number of followers (i.e., ad revenue) you have.
Twitler is the perfect example of this.
For Federer I prefer Delpo over Zverev. Next from 5-8 obviously prefer Anderson.
Kyrgios Quarter will be hot 🙂
You never know when Zverev will explode at a slam, he’s a ticking bomb that temporarily looks rusty. And you never know when Kyrgios decides to stay concentrated for the duration of 2 whole weeks! :))
‘a ticking bomb that temporarily looks rusty’!really Eugene…Zverev has yet to do anything at a slam while Delpo has been consistently reaching the final stages. I still haven’t forgotten how amazing his forehand was in the final set against Rafa at wimby.bet fed doesn’t want to play him.
I know what you say. My opinion is very subjective. I think Fed knows Delpo better. If Zverev has a good day and doesn’t try to copy Kyrgios, he’s capable to win against anyone. True, is hasn’t happened yet at a slam, but he’s dangerous, a kind of young Novak somehow. His attitude is not there yet.
I think there is a 33% chances this will not be won by any of the Big 3.
Why do you calculate that at 33% Eugene??
Could be any of the 5-8 players in Fed’s quarter except:
#DefinitelyNotNole
So far, not even close. Currently I don’t think NK could stay healthy through seven matches even if motivated.
no one should prefer Delpo over Zverev, especially not in the semis
ESPECIALLY in tslams.
(note tsarcasm)
Seriously, we’d never know. tsascha’s never made it to a tslam tsemi.
Damn tspellcheck.
Tseriously…
Prefer? Or being realistic?
ATM, I wouldn’t back Sasha to reach the last 16.
depends on draw
I certainly wouldn’t pick him to beat Delpo, unless injured
Not sure who I prefer to watch
has nothing to do with the draw.
Opponents Zverev lost to in last 8 slams (with opponent rank in brackets):
Gulbis (138), Thiem (8), Chung (58), Coric (61), Raonic (7), Verdasco (37), Nadal (9), Evans (64)
Zverev was the higher ranked player in all but one of those matches.
#YoureWelcome
what
where
Kyrgios will either be in Rafa or Nole’s quarter.
Probably Rafa’s.
#BEL18VE
I like that #BEL18VE. It reminds me of something very pleasant.
Even if Djoko is in Fed’s Q, it’s not a fact they’ll both get there. I think Fed will only improve by then. Don’t know about Nole to be fair, he played both in both Masters before USO, and depending on his path to the Q, it might be too much for him. I would actually prefer him over Cilic.
Happy Birhtday to HawkFDT
Tsame to VR, wherever he is 😀
Thanks rc!
(Maybe I can start a new trend.)
Raonic and Nishi will have something to show as well. Thiem, Tsitsipas, Shapo are misteries.
Don’t you mean Tshapo?);
Agree, all unknown quantities.
Lendl coaching tsascha in NY.
Andy Murray will not be happy.

Hi Amy, but surely thats how they change from been journeyman to becoming a player that belongs in the top 50 or so, one great result against a top player, will give them confidence and spur them onto bigger and better things, and maybe to becoming a top player themselves, we all start somewhere hun , no harm or foul ….
Respect your point of view Alison!!☺ Lovely to see you anyway!
Thanks Amy you too 🙂
Looking forward to seeing big three and of course Sir Andy Murray. http://www.138mph.com/tennis-back-to-the-big-three-the-us-open-2018/
