Alexander Zverev ended Ugo Humbert’s run at the Rolex Paris Masters with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory in Sunday’s final. The 2020 runner-up needed just one hour and 15 minutes to triumph at this event for the first time.

Zverev is back up to a career high of No. 2 in the rankings, surpassing Carlos Alcaraz. The German has a 505-point lead going into the Nitto ATP Finals, so–for now–he is in good shape to get the second seed at the 2025 Australian Open.

Humbert was the first French finalist at Paris Bercy since Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in 2011 and was trying to become the first player from the host nation to lift the trophy since Tsonga in 2008.

“I knew I had to play like this to win today,” Zverev said during the trophy ceremony. “Ugo is an incredible player, but here in Paris, he plays even better than he usually does and I knew that. Once the crowd gets involved, it’s going to be difficult. So I had to take that away early and I did, so I’m happy about that.

“I’m extremely happy to have played in this final,” Humbert assured. “To have my family and team with me the whole week has been incredible. It’s for moments like this why I do this every day, why I train.”

Humbert is currently entered in this coming week’s Moselle Open, where he would be the defending champion. Zverev has a week off prior to the year-end championship in Turin, where he will be the second overall seed behind Jannik Sinner and the top seed in his group. Three spots are still up for grabs going into Belgrade and Metz.
