Wimbledon announces wild cards for 2024 Championships

The All-England Club on Wednesday announced its preliminary wild-card recipients for the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.

In gentlemen’s singles, all seven so far hail from Great Britain. They are Liam Broady, Jan Choinski, Jacob Fearnley, Arthur Fery, Billy Harris, Paull Jubb, and Henry Searle. Fearnley (TCU), Fery (Stanford), and Jubb (South Carolina) are college tennis products.

The ladies’ single wild cards are a bit more diverse and also include bigger names. Three are well-known foreigners: Angelique Kerber of Germany, Naomi Osaka of Japan, and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark. The other four are Brits: Francesca Jones, Yuriko Lily Miyazaki, Emma Raducanu, and Heather Watson.

Doubles wild cards include Broady and Harris, Fearnley and TCU teammate Jack Pinnington Jones, and the duo of Marcus Willis and Jay Clarke that upset defending champions Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the 2017 Wimbledon second round.

Every event (singles, doubles, and qualifying) still has at least one wild card that is yet to be announced.
