In-form Italian Lorenzo Musetti will take on Francisco Cerundolo for the Umag title before both men rush to Paris to compete in the Olympics.
It’s the No. 2 seed against the No. 4 seed as Lorenzo Musetti battles Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in Saturday’s Croatio Open final. Musetti is ranked 17th in the world, but that’s a deceptive ranking. He is one of the most in-form players on the ATP tour right now. He has made the semifinals or better in his last 4 tournaments–including Wimbledon, where he lost in the semis to Novak Djokovic.
Francisco Cerundolo had a miserable time during the grass season, but he has found his form on the last of the 2024 clay swings. Wins for the Argentine this week include over Lorenzo Sonego in the quarterfinals and top seed Andrey Rublev in the semis on Friday.
Given that Musetti is playing out of his mind and hasn’t shown any signs of the fatigue that often comes with making it to the business end of tournaments, this one should be uncomplicated for the Italian. Musetti has now proven his recent mastery on both grass and clay. Expect Saturday’s final to be a straightforward affair.
