It will be the top two seeds going for the title on Sunday in Umag as Carlos Alcaraz takes on Jannik Sinner. It was an otherwise upset-filled tournament most of the week, but Alcaraz and Sinner have managed to advance.

World No. 5 Carlos Alcaraz will get a chance to exact revenge for his fourth-round Wimbledon loss when he takes on Italy’s Jannik Sinner in the title match in Umag on Sunday. Alcaraz went into Wimbledon as the fourth favorite to win the title, but he was knocked out in the round of 16 in four sets by Sinner.

Alcaraz made the final in Hamburg last week, but he lost in the finals to Lorenzo Musetti. The Spaniard had a blistering spring; he won four titles, including a pair of Masters in Miami and Madrid–but he has been slightly off form since, with a quarterfinal at the French Open, a fourth-round appearance at Wimbledon, and the final last week.

Sinner, the world No. 10, doesn’t have any titles this year but has consistently managed to get to the business end of most event he has entered. With the recent win over Alcaraz, the Italian will surely go into Sunday’s match with confidence.

Alcaraz turned his ankle in his semifinal win over Giulio Zeppieri and needed three sets to dispatch the world No. 168.

“At the moment the ankle is good. I don’t feel too much right now,” Alcaraz said. “Let’s see tonight or tomorrow morning, but I am going to say I will be ready for the final.”

Alcaraz is more comfortable on clay than he is on grass, so he should be in better form than he was at the All-England Club. Still, the slight edge goes to Sinner in this one.
