Gulbis goes through – not without incident – and will meet Jerzy next.
Dont envy the umpire in the chair for that match.
What was the incident?
Nothing unusual. Obligatory display of bad temper, racquet bashing, and verbal outburst at the umpire. Relatively mild in comparison with Monfils’ verbal lashing of Bernades!
“Obligatory display of bad temper, racquet bashing, and verbal outburst at the umpire.”
LOL. Extremely well said.
what did Monf do?

i couldn’t catch what he was saying but he argued at length, I think he’d been given a time warning. He’d had treatment for a right thigh injury and was struggling but battled on rather than retiring so I think he felt pretty aggrieved.
This was yesterday in his match against the other Pospisil
Forgot to mention Bernardes was also chair umpire for this match too. Seems there could be some history between them. I get the impression Bernardes is stricter about enforcing the 25-secs than many of the others.
i meant the Gulbis incident, but this is probably even more entertaining.

Verdasco finally showing signs of more consistency. After an up and down match he eventually ousted Nieminen.
Young Popsi didnt fare so well against Haase 🙁
I really like his attitude though. However he is showing signs of fatigue after his rollercoaster of a season and faded after levelling the 2nd set in the tie-breaker.
Congrats Haase. Sorry for Vashy. He’s had a breakthrough year so some fatigue is understandable. He may have more upside than Milos. We will see ,no?
I think so.
no, serve is too big a part of the game these days. And Raonic has it.
Unless a player is fighting to reach London, there is a limit to how much energy the higher ranked players are prepared to expend at this point in the season. This is no bad thing IMO – it gives the lower ranks the chance to gain valuable points not to mention much needed dosh.
Earneststs vs Jerzy should be a cracker! I could watch that matchup again and again.

It cant be anything but a turbulent match……

I am looking forward to the Gulbis/Jerzy match. That one should have some fireworks.

Erneststs wins! One nutcase beats another.
In the 2nd set, Ernie hit an underhand serve and won the point to hold at love vs Janowicz.
Looked like they were wearing identical kits.
