Holger Rune’s 2023 campaign has been a good one overall, but what once looked like surefire qualification for the Nitto ATP Finals is now in limbo. The sixth-ranked Dane is a horrendous 1-7 in his last eight matches dating back to the Wimbledon quarterfinals. During this stretch he has not defeated anyone other than a similarly ice-cold Felix Auger-Aliassime and he lost to Brandon Nakashima 6-0, 6-2 at the Shanghai Masters.
Up first for Rune at the Nordic Open on Wednesday is Miomir Kecmanovic. The 53rd-ranked Serb has by no means been great this season, but he kicked off his fall swing with a quarterfinal performance in Chengdu and he opened in Stockholm by crushing Karl Friberg 6-4, 6-2.
With a win already under his belt this week, Kecmanovic should be able to upset a struggling Rune.
Pick: Kecmanovic in 3
