Jannik Sinner has been on a dominant run dating back to last fall, and that’s exactly what he was in the Miami Open semifinals on Friday afternoon.

In a rematch of the 2023 final (which Sinner lost), the Italian crushed Daniil Medvedev 6-1, 6-2 in just one hour and nine minutes. Sinner will battle either Alexander Zverev of Grigor Dimitrov for the title on Sunday.

The 22-year-old, who will climb to a career-high No. 2 in the world next week, took control right from the start with a break for 2-0 in the first set. In fact, Medvedev did not get on the scoreboard until he held at love in the sixth game. The fourth-ranked Russian was only marginally better in the second, holding serve at 0-2 at 1-5.

“I felt great on court today,” Sinner assured. “Usually the more you go on in a tournament, the more comfortable I feel. I’m very happy with this performance.”

The world No. 3 will now aim for his fifth title since the start of the 2023 fall swing, having previously triumphed in Beijing, Vienna, Melbourne, and Rotterdam. This stretch also includes a Davis Cup title for Italy. Sinner is 21-1 this season and 34-2 in his last 36 matches.

  1. Oh my gosh, Sinner played so well, I was embarrassed for Daniil!!! If Sinner continues this way he’ll really be a serious force to be reckoned with! That last match he played against Alcaraz he should have won but for sone reason he lost steam.
