David Nalbandian announced his retirement from tennis on Tuesday afternoon. Nalbandian, 31, reached a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world and he finished runner-up to Lleyton Hewitt at Wimbledon in 2002.
Plagued by injuries throughout his career, the Argentine last played at the Sony Open in Miami. He led Jarkko Nieminen 6-2, 3-0 with a double-break in the second set before losing that first-round encounter in three sets.
Nalbandian is scheduled to play an exhibition match with Rafael Nadal on November 23 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I will really miss Nalbandian. Have seen him countless times over the past 10-12 years, and he had such fantastic talent…and a fun, entertaining player to watch. He had all the shots! Especially remember his match vs Safin on Armstrong at the US Open, and his recent battle vs Hewitt at The Austrailian!
I agree with Scootd. Nalbandian was incapable of playing a dull match. And many of his matches were thrilling duels that will live on in the memory.
