Jiri Lehecka and Emil Ruusuvuori will be facing each other for the second time this season when they meet again in round one of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters on Tuesday.
Ruusuvuori leads the head-to-head series 2-1, but Lehecka won their most recent encounter 6-2, 7-6(2) a couple of months ago in Doha. That was on a hard court, too, which bodes especially well for Lehecka’s chances on clay. After all, Ruusuvuori is definitely at his worst on clay with a 40-43 lifetime record on this surface–including a loss to Jan-Lennard Struff in the final round of Monte-Carlo qualifying. Lehecka, on the other hand, is 85-46.
The Czech has been in awesome form this season, giving him all the more reason to roll through this matchup. Ruusuvuori probably won’t be able to capitalize on his lucky-loser spot in the main draw.
Pick: Lehecka in 2
