In one of the craziest comebacks on tour in recent memory, Alex Molcan recovered from a set and 5-0 down to defeat Sebastian Ofner 4-6, 7-5, 7-6(5) in round two of the Generali Open on Wednesday afternoon.

Molcan was one point away–twice–from losing 6-4, 6-0. The 25-year-old Slovak found himself down match point at ad-out on two occasions while serving down 5-0 in the second set.

He saved both of the match points, managed to hold for 1-5, and suddenly was off to the races. That started a string eight consecutive games for Molcan, starting from 0-5 in the second to 2-0 in the third. Ofner staged a brief comeback of his own to get back on serve in the deciding set and force a tiebreaker, but the 27-year-old Austrian lost the ‘breaker seven points to five to complete his collapse.
