Miami R4 previews and predictions: Djokovic vs. Musetti, Korda vs. Monfils

Novak Djokovic has navigated his way through two matches at the Miami Masters and will now face Lorenzo Musetti on Tuesday. A full slate of fourth-round action also includes Sebastian Korda vs. Gael Monfils.

(15) Lorenzo Musetti vs. (4) Novak Djokovic

Djokovic and Musetti will be squaring off for the ninth time in their careers when they battle for a quarterfinal spot at the Miami Open on Tuesday. The head-to-head series stands at 7-1 in favor of Djokovic, who beat Musetti four times last season–including three on the big stage (Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the Paris Olympics). Musetti’s lone victory has come at the 2023 Monte-Carlo Masters, where he pulled off a 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 upset.

With Djokovic far from his best form right now and presumably less motivated at Masters 1000s than he is at Grand Slams or the Olympics, this is a great opportunity for Musetti. The 37-year-old Serb is just 2-3 in his last five matches and needed a tiebreaker against both Rinky Hijikata and Camilo Ugo Carabelli earlier this fortnight. Musetti has been in stellar form dating back to last spring and has advanced in Miami with defeats of two opponents who have been very good in 2025–Quentin Halys and Felix Auger-Aliassime. Sound the upset alert for the 16th-ranked Italian.

Gael Monfils vs. (24) Sebastian Korda

Korda vs. Monfils marks a rematch of a second-round showdown two weeks again in Indian Wells, where Monfils prevailed 7-6(2), 7-6(4). It was only one result of many impressive ones throughout what has been an awesome 2025 campaign for the 38-year-old Frenchman. He is 14-4 with a title in Auckland, a fourth-round run at the Australian Open, and Miami victories over Fabian Marozsan, Jiri Lehecka, and Jaume Munar–the latter in a third-set tiebreaker.

It has been a much different story for Korda, who missed the end of last season following the U.S. Open because of a wrist injury and has started slow in 2025. The 25th-ranked American finally has some momentum after ousting world No. 10 Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-6(4), 6-3 on Sunday. However, that was just his fifth win of the year and his first top-10 win since August. Asking him to string together back-to-back clinical performances is likely too much–especially against an opponent who beat him in straight sets at the previous Masters 1000 stop on the Sunshine Double.

Pick: Monfils in 2
