Miami draw revealed: Del Potro among several comeback stories

The Miami Open draw ceremony was held on Monday, pitting Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal on opposite sides as the top two seeds. Nadal is ranked No. 3 in the world, but he snagged the second seed with Roger Federer skipping the tournament.

Djokovic is on a semifinal collision course with Kei Nishikori, while Nadal could go up against either Andy Murray or Stan Wawrinka in the last four.

Among the themes of this year’s Miami Masters are comebacks. Juan Martin Del Potro, who returned briefly in Sydney, is back in action and has an intriguing first-round date with Vasek Pospisil on his hands. Frenchmen Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gael Monfils are also on the comeback trail. They are in line to face each other in the third round, although Tsonga might first have to get past an in-form Tim Smyczek.

  1. Rafa has a tough draw..lot of banana skins for Rafa

Interested to see how Rafa will face Berdych if both reach there after the AO thrashing

  2. Rafa, as nature itself, is blooming at the right time, injury allowing he will be at his best under the hot sun amidst the blowing wind and drifting swells 🙂

  3. vamosrafa,

I love your prediction and hope it comes true!

Oh and just ignore the rolling eyes emoticon in the first response to your pick. Unfortunate. 🙂

  4. Is Tiggy kidding with that prediction? In what universe does he think that Nishikori will beat Novak? Rafa beating Murray? Well that’s not out of the question. I want to see Rafa bump up against a top player!

    Vamos Rafa! No fear!

On VB they are saying it’s the kiss of death because when Tiggy predicts Rafa for the win, then he loses. But this time, I hope he’s right!

    • I don’t believe a word in all these kiss of deaths. No person predicting anything can really affect any outcome, except that people have all kinds of superstitions.

BTW NNY, Nishi beat Novak in USO semi 2014, so it is possible.

  5. LOL! Hilarious!

Oh yes, since Kei beat Novak at the USO last year, then as night follows day he will surely beat him in Miami!

I don’t think that win means that he owns Novak just yet!
