Making it look easy? Are you sure?
It might look easy against Rafa but Rafa certainly wasn’t at his best; it certainly didn’t look easy against Djoko! Djoko might have won it in straight sets had he con […]

I’m waiting for the final here, and see if Alcaraz can continue with the speed around the court after this three and a half hours SF.
Djoko had his chances at the end of the second set when he had so many BPs […]

I suddenly think of a person who can absorb this hard hitting kind of attacking tennis – the Andy Murray of old, before his hip injury.
Andy can vary the pace of shots, absorbing the blows very well (like the […]

Djoko is mis-hitting so many FH shots, rarely see him doing that, must be feeling all the pressure coming from Alcaraz’s relentless attacks!

He’s gutsy with those dropshots because he has nothing to lose! He’s not the no.1 player so the pressure is not on him. He’s willing to take risk because he knows he has to in order to have a chance to beat […]

First set in the bag for Djoko. He’s playing well and so I expect him to win the match. He’s not no.1 for nothing, he has the game to counter Alcaraz’s aggression. Both Rafa and Djoko have the game to beat […]

I agree! He’ll be fine in Rome.

It’s more to do with lack of confidence, as he’s coming back from injury, and also lack of match play.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with his game, when he could play well against Kecmanovic and Goffin, […]

Djoko in 2; Zverev in 3.

Alcaraz hit many winners but he also made many errors. He’s playing very aggressive tennis and the Madrid court plays more like a HC so it suits him well. He was struggling to beat his opponents at Barcelona […]

Well congrats to Alcaraz for the win. I hope he’s at 100% when facing Djoko in the SF. Not another walkover for Djoko please!
The commentators talked as if beating Rafa on clay these days is still very big […]

If Alcaraz’s ankle is not OK, then I hope it’s Rafa who gets to the SF. A uninjured Rafa is > a injured Alcaraz, and I certainly don’t want an easy SF for Djoko.

Both Djoko and Alcaraz could rely on their serve to get themselves out of troubles, Rafa couldn’t.
Rafa’s serve is really affected by this rib injury, I mean how many times he’s hitting his first serve into the […]

I think even if Alcaraz beats Rafa here, he’s not going to beat Djoko in the SF.
Djoko is playing very well imo, his serve is really a weapon when he needs it to get him out of trouble. Alcaraz makes too many […]

On Rafa playing Madrid, that’s what I expected he would do, precisely for match plays, regardless of whether he wins the title or not. It’s too risky not playing at Madrid and goes straight to Rome, when he may […]

I have to give both guys credit for fighting it out so hard in the TB.
Well, Rafa fights hard to win in the end, so congrats to him for the win. At least he retains his QF points.
He really has to go back […]

Both Tsitsipas and FAA are about to win their respective matches and they started their matches much later than Rafa’s! Rafa is making a mess out of a straight set winnable match when he has two MPs but s […]

He playing like this may soon loses this match! And even if he wins in the end, he’s not going to beat that young guy in the QF (if that young guy gets there)!
What kind of mentality is that, when you’re a p […]

I’m getting very irritated with Rafa not being able to serve out a match a second time running in as many matches played!
What’s he thinking? What’s there to be nervous about, that he has to make all those […]

luckystar commented on the post, Nadal returns in style at Madrid Masters with win over Kecmanovic 2 years, 6 months ago
I’d said it before during the AO, that Rafa and his team’s approach was to win the first set no matter what, so that he would not ‘chase’ from behind in his matches. He would have enough in his tank to last hi […]
