On serve I mean.

I wonder why he’s not hitting his spots as well so far at this tournament?

Kevin commented on the post, Madrid R3 previews and predictions: Nadal vs. Tiafoe, Federer vs. Monfils 5 years, 6 months ago
That is true, Joe- I didn’t really think about the fact that the first set was basically a gimme. I hope I’m wrong because if there is a clay tournament where Fed has his best chance of beating Thiem, it’s surely Madrid.

Wow. That was a war between Fed and Monfils. I predicted Fed in 3 because Monfils has been a nightmare matchup for Fed on clay. But I did not think it would be THAT close. Crazy to think Federer-Monfils has […]

Wow! I never knew that Chardy had never even gotten a set… I wonder how many times he’s at least gotten to set point like today?

There’s no page for Djokovic-Chardy, so I’ll comment here. Chardy just had set point against Novak, but of course couldn’t take it. How much you wanna bet that Chardy now immediately gets broken to let Novak serve […]

I’m also going to go with Federer in 3. However, I will not be the least bit surprised to see Fed lose. Monfils has just been a horrible matchup for Fed in recent years. He can push and throw junk at Fed all d […]

Although I did just remember that Monfils was actually the last person who Federer beat at Roland Garros, so maybe I shouldn’t say that Monfils has “had his number” on clay in recent years… He did, howev […]

Just when Rafa gets a chance to meet Federer on clay again- Djokovic, Thiem, and Monfils get thrown into Fed’s draw. Fed facing Novak on clay goes without saying. Thiem is clearly more than capable of wiping the f […]

Well, to be fair, when was Mischa Zverev ever “hot” haha? I’ve always liked Mischa, though. Seems like a good guy.

Oh dear, Zverev…. Bombing out at the bigger tournaments while in a slump? Understandable. But surely he should have no problem winning a 250, right? Or even just going deep at a 250? Apparently not. He’s young e […]

Maybe this could be a similar situation:
Would it have been a lazy pick to have picked Fed to win the 2008 Wimbledon Final because you just felt like Wimbledon was still Fed’s kingdom, even though Fed has b […]

I understand what you’re saying, Joe. You seem to be taking people’s picks/predictions of Rafa winning RG as them saying that nobody can beat him. That’s just not the case. There’s no question that, as of now, Na […]

Kevin commented on the post, Barcelona final preview and prediction: Thiem vs. Medvedev 5 years, 6 months ago
Wow, I totally forgot about Tsitsipas! He’s definitely my other favorite younger-gun. I enjoy his variety, which Thiem very much lacks. I’m happy to watch Tsitsipas on any surface, whereas I enjoy Thiem on cla […]

Now this is the result we all expect from a guy of Thiem’s stature! Similar to Fabio last Sunday, props to Thiem for not having a letdown post-Rafa in the Final. If he can get good results at Madrid/Rome and not f […]

Kevin commented on the post, Barcelona final preview and prediction: Thiem vs. Medvedev 5 years, 6 months ago
I’ll say Thiem in 3, although I’m not very confident in that prediction. While he’s taken some big steps over the last year, he still has been too inconsistent for me to be confident just assuming he’ll win mat […]

Joe, definitely not bad at all! Like I said, IW was a big step forward for him. That’s not Roland Garros, though. While Thiem showed improvement in showing poise in a big moment with his win over Fed in the IW f […]

I agree with you, VR, that I would still pick Rafa if they met at RG, without hesitation. I still just don’t have belief in Thiem that he can handle the pressure well enough in the absolute biggest moments. He o […]

Why do you think he doesnt go down the line more with his forehand, Lucky? I’ve wondered the same thing myself for a while now. When he is using that forehand down the line, he is so much tougher to handle.

But maybe this Medvedev wouldn’t lose the RG final form 2 sets to love and a break up? Although, similar to how 1999 Medvedev was facing one of the greatest players of all-time in that final, it wouldn’t be a sho […]
