What’s amazing is that a 34 year old is saying that.

Fernandez’s win over Svitolina was the most captivating tennis match I’ve seen, men’s or women’s, in a long time. They both played some insane tennis and honestly Leylah Fernandez is the most exciting women’s […]

I’ve also thought ‘luck of the draw’ was a thing, and I’ve always wondered how people are so confident that the draws are rigged. You can only play the people in front of you, and if you beat them all you win the […]

Finally was able to watch the men’s final. Congratulations to Novak and his fans! I’ve always liked him and his game, but like so many others, I’ve never counted him as my favorite player. I really thought that […]

Actually, Fed’s serve gave him fits in the final two years ago…except in the tiebreaks and a couple of other key points! Of course, that was more precision than speed from Roger.

Shapo’s biggest liability in that match was nerves. He tightened up in the most important points, whereas Novak did the opposite. If Denis hadn’t done that, he easily could have won one or both of the first two […]

Joe Smith commented on the post, Wimbledon SF preview and prediction: Djokovic vs. Shapovalov 3 years, 4 months ago
Well, I got it wrong, sure, but you can hardly say it was pre-ordained. Shapo had plenty of chances in the first two sets, more than Novak. He’s getting better and if he can just get a bit of mental toughness he […]

Joe Smith commented on the post, Wimbledon SF preview and prediction: Djokovic vs. Shapovalov 3 years, 4 months ago
Compared to where he’s been in the past, obviously. I don’t think he’s playing at the level he was in 2016, for instance. To be sure, like Shapo said, Novak is the best player in the world right now, as he has […]

Joe Smith commented on the post, Wimbledon SF preview and prediction: Djokovic vs. Shapovalov 3 years, 4 months ago
Maybe it’s just me, but Novak doesn’t seem his best this year, and maybe anymore at 34. Seems strange to say given that he’s won the first two slams and is the favorite to win a third straight. But I thought he […]

Time waits for no one, and today was Roger’s turn. He’s played some good tennis in this tournament, but one of the things age robs you of is consistency, and today wasn’t his day at all. But congrats to Hubert, […]

Good win for Roger over a quality opponent, easily his best in quite awhile. He looks like he’s getting more comfortable out there.

Dude, where do you come up with this random sh*t? And your ‘predictions’ are more like possibilities: Federer or Norrie in 3, 4, or 5!
Based on what I’ve seen, yes, you should definitely give up. Or at least […] -

If Fed wins, I don’t think it will be in five. I think he will continue to play well in this match; Fed in 4.

I was hoping to see Humbert build on his Halle title, but a pretty tough first round opponent and a great match. Let’s hope Nick can continue. I’m not sure about his fitness, though; he’s definitely looking a bit chunkier.

Thanks! Nice to see Humbert with a 500 tournament. He’s such a talented player and fun to watch. And Rublev is a bit surly on court, especially against players ranked lower than him (he was like that against […]

I’m going to go with Ugo for the upset. He’s been playing some inspired tennis from what I’ve seen. Sure Rublev may be a bit fresher, but it’s not like Humbert has been playing 5-setters on clay. A few 3 set […]

Watched Humbert edge FAA. Great match and both fun players to watch. Humbert will be a lot for Rublev to handle in the final.

Joe Smith commented on the post, French Open No. 2 for Djokovic after coming back from two sets down vs. Tsitsipas 3 years, 5 months ago
I don’t think he’s hurt. He probably did it to give himself the best chance for USO. Same reason Fed pulled out of the French, which some people didn’t like. But at these guys’ age, I think we have to cut them some slack.
