Cheryl Murray commented on the post, U.S. Open R4 previews and predictions: Djokovic vs. Wawrinka, Medvedev vs. Koepfer 5 years, 2 months ago
Elizabeth, you’re right. Nole’s desire to be liked is one of the reasons the New York crowd dislikes him. They’re kind of mean that way. My kids would call him a try hard.
And I agree that being disrespectful […]

They were just miserable to Djokovic for YEARS because of that Roddick incident. In fact, they still won’t cheer for him…they just don’t boo him anymore. They’re a little….feral.

Rafael Nadal will take on the 2014 U.S. Open champion Marin Cilic for a spot in the quarterfinals. The Spaniard, a fixture in the business end of this event, last won the title in New York in 2017. Alexander […]

He was a little scratchy in his last match, but generally I’ve been impressed with his form. I don’t think Cilic is playing well enough to take him out. I expect that we will see him in the final next Sunday.

Sanju, I’m never surprised when one of the Big 3 wins a major. But just like Rafa at the Australian Open, Fed isn’t really at his best in New York. I’m not inclined to consider him the favorite just yet, but his […]

I’m with you, Elizabeth. The disappearing pain has me concerned about more permanent damage. I hope all is well.

The Medvedev thing might be my favorite single tennis moment of the year. “I want you to know. When you sleep tonight, I won because of you.”
AHAHAHAHAAHAHA. Holy. Moly. He’s Randy “Macho Man” Savage. Except […]

Nadal was a little off, something I attribute to the walkover in the last round. He’s a creature of habit…he was just a little out of rhythm in my opinion. Certainly not at his vicious best, but far from the worst.

Yup. Wawrinka is not in good form, but neither is Chardy…and obviously Chardy has trouble with Stan’s game. I think a Dimitrov upset is more likely than a Chardy upset.

Absolutely true that it had very little impact on Djokovic. The man is the current defending champion of 3 Slams…Thiem’s win at the French made a dent, no doubt…little else that’s happened this year would have […]

I didn’t include Kyrgios, because I can never be sure if he does that because he’s trying to win or because he doesn’t give a crap. For me, that disqualifies him as a candidate for a legitimate mention in the […]

There is much to admire about the way Daniil Medvedev came back from a set down to defeat Novak Djokovic in Saturday’s second semifinal match at the Western & Southern Open. First is the fact that Djokovic is the […]
