Another five-setter it was. Another classic it was not.
Novak Djokovic beat familiar foe Stan Wawrinka 7-6(1), 3-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-0 on Thursday night in an Australian Open quarterfinal that lacked almost all of the quality that had been on display in their 2013 and 2014 Melbourne showdowns.
Both men finished with horrendous winners to errors totals (Djokovic 27 to 49, Wawrinka 42 to 69) and the top-ranked Serb did not strike a single winner in the entire fourth set.
There were, however, a few highlights; some impressive, some comical.
