Fritz qualifies for Turin but loses to Draper, De Minaur on the brink

Taylor Fritz, who got a first-round bye as the No. 5 seed, qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals on Tuesday based on other results at the Rolex Paris Masters. It’s a good thing Fritz was already in, too, because he lost his opening match on Wednesday. The American bowed out at the hands of a red-hot Jack Draper via a 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-4 decision, which extended the Brit’s winning streak to seven matches.

Draper is coming off an ATP 500 title on the indoor hard courts of Vienna. The world No. 15 has won his last nine completed matches (he retired in the Tokyo quarterfinals against Ugo Humbert.

“I know if I want to be a consistent top player I’m going to have to back up match after match against the top players in the world,” Draper noted. “The toughest part (in Paris) has been adjusting to the conditions. It’s a lot different, a lot faster, which has made it tougher off the ground. I didn’t play my best, but I’m proud of how I competed and problem-solved.”

The left-hander will probably have to be at his best if he wants to win again on Thursday, because an extremely motivated Alex de Minaur will be on the other side of the net. If the 10th-ranked Aussie prevails to secure a quarterfinal spot, he will pass Andrey Rublev for the all-important No. 8 spot in the race to Turin.

De Minaur continued his push for the year-end championship by beating Miomir Kecmanovic 6-4, 7-6(5) in the second round.

  1. What’s your thoughts on the Election? Bookies have it Trump 1.60 / Harris 2.70.

You guys would have to be mad to go round 2 with Trump, wouldnt you? Especially at his age. Nothing against him personally, i’m sure he’s a decent bloke outside of politics and business but I cant believe he might get another crack after everything.

You guys need better and the world deserves better. 🙂

  2. Something happened overnight. Trump is easing in the market. This will be a close election. People want change, not the same extreme capitalism garbage that favours a handful of people and chronic attention seekers that think they’re the only ones capable of doing anything.
